2023 Pearland Golf Tournament Results

The Houston APT tour wrapped up its final single day event of the 2023 season at Pearland Golf Club on Saturday, August 26^th.  It was another scorcher as Houston continues to endure a relentless record-breaking heat wave. APT members and guests still came out to take on a challenging course that rolled out offering trouble to those that veered off course and rewarded those that kept it in the fairway.    

In Division 1, Marc Young (76) started out on a rough note with a double bogey but quickly corrected course with birdie, birdie to garner a 3-shot lead at the turn and managed to hold off James Michalsky (79) down the stretch. James finished in second place and first-time APT guest Emmett Ely (82 finished in third. Marc’s first place finish moved him up to the top spot in the Houston POY race which will be up for grabs at Moody Gardens in the Houston 2023 Championship! 

In Division 2, Jason Hawthorne (79) continued his hot streak by earning his fourth consecutive APT tournament win! Mark Gonzales (85) finished in second place with a steady back nine performance and Jason McCain (86) finished in third. 

Division 3 saw a tale of two 9’s for Travis Watson (89)…  Down by 7 at the turn, Travis had the best back nine of the entire field, rattling off seven pars and two bogeys for a solid 38 and a well-earned come from behind 1^st place finish. Pat Ryan (91) finished in second and APT guest DJ Hayden (97) finished in third place.  

In Division 4, Alvin Miles (87) was down by 2 at the turn but had a steady performance on the back nine to secure a 1^st place win and earn enough points to move him into the lead for the D4 POY race. Dallas Davidson (89) finished in second place and Ellis Flores (91) finished in third. 

Division 5 was a tightly contested race! Rob Vespa (94) and Apolonio Fama (95) felt the heat when Rafael Nolasco (95) birdied the 15^th hole to create a 3-way tie on the leaderboard with three holes remaining.  The 17^th hole was the difference maker as Rob edged out Rafael and Apolonio by one shot for the 1^st place win. Rafael and Apolonio finished in a tie for second place.  

In the Senior Net Division, Alvin Miles (+4) took 1^st place, Mark Gonzales (+6) finished in second place and Rob Vespa (+8) finished in third place.
