2024 Coosaw Creek Golf Tournament Results

The Charleston Amateur Players Tour could not have ordered a better day for golf as a sold-out field of 56 golfers were treated to a beautiful day while competing for over $3,500 in cash and VISA gift card prizes in the tour’s tournament at Coosaw Creek County Club. The Charleston Amateur Players Tour travels the Lowcountry of South Carolina, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in tournaments for various prizes, including cash and VISA gift cards.  

Monday, the tour traveled to North Charleston to play at one of the best courses in the area. Coosaw Creek County Club is an exclusive club located 30 minutes from downtown Charleston. The course presents its own share of challenges as the conditions also played firm with the temperatures reaching above 70 degrees. The 18-hole championship layout captures the beauty of the Lowcountry while featuring some of the best course conditions in the Charleston area.  

Here’s a breakdown of the results from Monday’s round: 

Division 1 – Matt Minder and Brady Garver battled it out down the stretch as Minder birdied two of his last three holes to win Division 1 with a round of 86. Minder overcame a difficult hole on the par-four 14^th hole that could have ended his chances to win as he bounced back with birdies on the 16^th and 17^th holes.  

Garver shot 87 to finish runner-up in the division. Garver made two birdies in his final four holes to shoot 39 on the back nine but could not overcome a slow start on the front nine to win. Josh Downey and Nicholas Politis rounded out the division with rounds of 93 and 96, respectively.  

Division 2 – Eighteen holes of golf proved to not be enough to declare a winner in Division 2 as Kevin Futrell prevailed in a playoff to claim the top spot. Futrell and Kevin Lyles both shot 82.  

Futrell got off to a hot start, birding two of his first four holes of the day. Lyles found his groove on the back nine, playing his final five holes in two under par to reach the playoff.  

John Tompkins finished close behind with a round of 83 in third place. Phil VanGeersdaelen, Joseph Jones, and Jeff Snyder rounded out the top-five as all three tied for fourth place with rounds of 85.  

Senior Division 2 – The drama down the stretch between Kevin Futrell and Kevin Lyles also played out in Senior Division 2 on Monday as Futrell won in a playoff. Futrell and Lyles both shot 82 to pace the division. Both players also made two birdies on the day.  

Phil VanGeersdaelen and Jeff Snyder tied for third place after posting rounds of 85. VanGeersdaelen’s highlight of the day came on the par-five 8^th hole when he made birdie. Snyder plotted his way through the front nine, posting an impressive 41 to start the day.  

Frank Heitman rounded out the top-five with a round of 87.  

Division 3 – Misael Moreno staved off late chargers from three challengers to win Division 3 on Monday with a round of 86. Moreno shot just five over par on the front nine, including a string of three straight pars to close the side, putting him atop the leaderboard.  

Crys Peyton, Chris Minar, and Jeff Price finished in a tie for second place after all three players shot 89. Minar closed his round in style with a birdie on the par-four closing hole.  

Brian Gregor and Myron Samuels tied for fifth place with rounds of 93. Samuels got off to a hot start, playing his first four holes in just one over par.  

Senior Division 3 – While Chris Minar and Jeff Price came up short of the top-spot in Division 3, the two battled it out to the finish in Senior Division 3 on Monday. Minar and Price were tied after both players posted rounds of 89 as Minar eventually won in a playoff. Minar’s birdie on the final hole proved crucial, helping him reach the playoff against Price.  

Brian Gregor and Myron Samuels finished tied for third place. Andy McNeal finished fifth in the division as his round featured a birdie on the par-four 9^th hole.  

Division 4 – Two birdies in his final four holes proved to be enough for Harold Heath to win Division 4 on Monday with a round of 90. Heath got hot down the stretch, birding the par-three 15^th hole and the par-four 18^th hole. Heath also made two pars on his final five holes to compliment the birdies.  

Scott Johnson finished runner-up with a score of 92. Johnson made a charge on the back nine, parring four of his first six holes on the inward stretch. Brandon Long finished third, posting a 93. Long made two birdies on the day, including one on the front nine and one on the back nine.  

John Kelly finished fourth with a round of 97. John Haynie and Thomas Hart tied for fifth place with rounds of 98.  

Senior Division 4 – John Kelly stayed the course in Senior Division 4 on Monday, paring his final hole of the day to win the division by just one stroke over John Haynie and Thomas Hart. Kelly shot 97 but buckled down on the final hole and secured a par for the outright victory.  

Haynie and Hart tied for second play with rounds of 98. Hart’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-three 15^th hole that helped him gain control of the leaderboard. A tough stretch of holes to close the round knocked Hart to second place.  

Ralph Perritano and Steve Daniels rounded out the division with rounds of 99 and 100, respectively.  

Division 5 – After 18 holes of competition, there was no separation between Steven Reeves and John Greider, forcing a playoff in Division 5 on Monday. Reeves prevailed, claiming the top spot in the division after he and Greider posted rounds of 100.  

Reeves made back-to-back pars on the back nine to position himself to go for the win. Greider trailed Reeves by one shot going to the back nine as he managed to close the gap but fell in the playoff.  

Randy Cox finished third with his round of 103, followed by Anthony Horne in fourth place with a round of 104. Ray Pazornick and Ricky Compton rounded out the top-five as both players posted rounds of 110.
