Competitors in the field for Monday’s Upstate Amateur Players Tour tournament at Kenmure County Club could not think of a better way to start the week. Throughout the beautiful day of competition, golfers vied for over $4,700 in side game cash and VISA gift card prizes.

Monday’s field was treated to Western North Carolina’s premier gated golf community located in Flat Rock. The Joe Lee designed course provides top-notch, high-country living for residents and guests.

Officially opened in 1982, the course offers a unique experience on each of its 18 holes. From breathtaking course views to the stunning beauty of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s no wonder that this private golf course is top rated.

The Upstate Amateur Players Tour travels the Upstate of South Carolina, and portions of North Carolina, offering golfers of all skill levels an opportunity to compete. With ten different divisions, including senior division as well, the tour has become a favorite of golfers throughout the area.

Here’s a breakdown from Monday’s tournament by each division:

Division 1 – BJ Humphries played his final 10 holes in two under par, proving to be the difference as his round of 68 earned him the top honors in Division 1 on Monday. Jackson Hill finished close behind with a round of 69, three under par.

Hill found his groove on the back nine, playing the first six holes in four under par to take the lead. Tyler Shuler shot 76 to finish third, followed by Nicholas Politis in fourth with a score of 77.

Shuler took advantage of both front-nine par fives during his round as Politis found success at the turn with birdies on the 10th and 12th holes. Brent Densmore rounded out the top-five with a round of 79.

Senior Division 1 – A string of eight straight pars on the front nine set the stage for San Constantino to win Senior Division 1 on Monday with a round of 81. Constantino defeated challenger Mark Blankenship by just one shot. Constantino made two birdies on the day on the back-nine par fives. Blankenship had a steady day that featured eight pars as he carded a round of 82.

Division 2 – Ten players finished within four shots of the leader as Travis Wartluft prevailed in a playoff over Robert LaCombe and Jimmy Popp as all three players carded rounds of 78 to tie for the lead. Wartluft made two front-nine birdies to steady his round en route to the victory.

LaCombe shot just two over par on the front nine as he made seven pars during the stretch. Popp’s highlight of the round came on the par-five 10th hole. Chris Joyner, Brad Anderson, Adam Moore, and Weston Brown tied for fourth place after posting rounds of 79.

Senior Division 2 – The same three-way playoff played out in Senior Division 2 on Monday as Travis Wartluft won the top prize over Robert LaCombe and Jimmy Popp. Matthew Hendon finished in fourth place with a round of 80 that included a division-high three birdies.

Hendon birdied the par-five 13th hole along with the par-four 16th hole to battle back into the top-five. Jeff Ferguson and Johnny Moffett tied for fifth place with rounds of 82. Ferguson birdied the par-four first hole as Moffett took advantage of the par-five eighth hole with a birdie.
