Tournament Champions
The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its last elevated event of the 2024 season at local favorite, General’s Retreat at Hermitage Golf Course. 79 players competed over two days for double Player of the Year points and prizes totaling over $8,800. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was perfect for the entire tournament.
Division 1
Burns’ Matt Mitchell continues his blistering play to capture the victory. Mitchell scorched the course both days with two under-par rounds of 5-under 67 and a closing round of 3-under 69. He finished with a two-day total of 136. Hermitage’s Nicholas Boone finishes the tournament at 2-over (74-72) to capture 2nd place.
Division 2
Greg Wyatt from Smyrna posts the low round of the tournament, within the division, to win by 4 strokes over Murfreesboro’s Micheal Lynn. Wyatt’s steady play on Sunday completed with two-day total of 149 (77-72). Lynn’s consistent play of 76-77 secured his 2nd place finish by one stroke over Franklin’s Ken Washington and his two-day total of 154 (80-74).
Division 3
Pegram’s Caleb Cart fended off a late charge to capture the win. Cart posts 80-70-158 to take the 1st place prize over Mike Burnett from Murfreesboro who finished with a two-day total (82-78). Smyrna’s Jeff Hudgins takes 3rd place with back-to-back rounds of 81 and a two-day total of 162. Day 1 leader, Columbia’s Sam Cook, takes 4th with two rounds of 76 and 87.
Division 4
Nolensville’s Stephen Geltch makes it two-in-a-row with a three-stroke victory. Geltch scored back-to-back rounds of 80 and finished with a two-day total of 160. Brentwood’s Reid Kieswetter finished with a total of 163 with rounds of 85-78 and closed his 2nd round with 4 straight birdies to vault in to 2nd place. Charlotte’s Madison Murphy (83-82) takes 3rd place with his two-day total of 165.
Division 5
Charlotte’s Cole Smith posts two rounds of 89 and 86, respectively, to best Old Hickory’s Tyler Laney by six strokes. Smith finished with a two-day total of 175 while Laney posts rounds of 95 and 86 to finish with a total of 181. Rachel Guthrie from Brentwood takes 3rd place on the final hole of the tournament and posts 93-91 to finish with a two-day total of 184.
Open Net
Madison Murphy and Micheal Lynn finished tied a-top the net leader board with 3-under total. Murphy wins the scorecard playoff by having the best net score on day 2.
Senior Net
Stephen Geltch capitalizes on his splendid play to capture the net win. Geltch posted back-to-back net rounds of 3-under 69 to best Lebanon’s Tony Todd by 5 strokes. Todd finished the tournament with net 1-under. Rachel Guthrie snags 3rd place with net total of 4-over.
