Tournament Champions
The Florida Gulf Coast chapter hosted it’s inaugural event this weekend at Perdido Bay Golf Club in Pensacola, FL. The tournament format was a net stableford with a field of 12 players from surrounding states and included a couple snowbirds from as far away as South Dakota. Perdido Bay Golf Club was the former site of the Pensacola Open and didn’t disappoint as it was in great condition from tee to green. The weather started out a little chilly but was in the high 60’s and sunny a couple holes into the round.
Don Weiss Jr birdied the 18th and took a 5 point lead into the clubhouse with 2 other groups still on the course. Ace Fisher eagled the 18th in the very next group to snatch the lead away and take the win by 1 point. Don and Ace both posted 2 net eagles and 3 birdies each in the round.
The next stop for the Florida Gulf Coast chapter will be another stableford in Gulf Shores, AL at the Cypress Bend Course at Craft Farms on Dec 7th. The Cypress Bend course is an Arnold Palmer design and has a 4-½ star rating by Golf Digest. There’s only 24 spots available so make your plans to spend a few days in beautiful Gulf Shores.
