Tournament Champions
This past weekend, 96 players competed at Champions Run in Rockvale. The weather was better than earlier in the week as we avoided rain for the entire round. Pace of play was decent as we were on the cart path all round due to the recent weather. The course is under renovation and played as a par 70. Total prize pool just over $3,700 and side games totaling over $2,100.
In Division 1, College Grove’s John Brown posts 6 birdies during his round and finishes in 1st place at 2-under par. Burns’ Matt Mitchel takes 2nd place with his even par round. Franklin’s Micheal Cooper posts 2-over par for 3rd place.
In Division 2, Fayetteville’s Jerry Ferguson played extremely well with 5 birdies and finished with a round of 2-under par. Three other players: Murfreesboro’s Micheal Osborne, Hendersonville’s David McIllwain and Nashville’s Charles Hammer all finished in a 4th place tie at 5-over par.
In Division 3, there was a 3-way tie for 1st place and extra holes were required. Brentwood’s Adam Corona, Murfreesboro’s Ian Mitzelfeld and Murfreesboro’s Kevin German all finished with rounds of 6-over. The playoff last two holes and Corona was able to prevail and score the 1st place prize and trophy. German and Mitzelfeld both finish in a 2nd place tie. Two other players: Spring Hill’s Todd Osinski and Dickson’s Alex Richardson finished in a 4th place tie with rounds of 7-over par.
In Division 4, Portland’s Kaleb Wilson scores a 3-stroke victory over Smyrna’s Thurman Boyd. Wilson posts an excellent round of 7-over to best Boyd’s 10-over par round.
