Berkshire Valley RECAP
The New Jersey Amateur Players Tour rolled into its third stop of the season on Sunday, May 18th – and what a venue it was. The Highlands Challenge at Berkshire Valley Golf Course played host to an electrifying day of competition as 54 players teed it up on a course that was nothing short of spectacular. With brilliant sunshine overhead, cooler temperatures, and a steady wind that demanded precision on every shot, the conditions were as challenging as they were invigorating. The stage was set, the field was ready, and Berkshire Valley—meticulously manicured and tournament-tough—proved to be a worthy battleground.
In Division 1, Adam Fuchs had a tough start, going +5 on the front nine, while Trevor DuBoff led the four-player field at the turn with a +3. However, Fuchs mounted a strong comeback on the back nine, posting a +2 to finish at +7 (78) and claim the win. He’s on an impressive streak, having already taken first place at both the Bedford Springs Major and the New Jersey opener at Shackamaxon.
John Krawczyk struggled early, carding a +10 on the front nine, but bounced back in remarkable fashion with a +1 on the back. That strong finish was enough to secure second place at +11 (82).
In Division 2, With a competitive field of 18 players, the battle was on to see who would emerge as the Division 2 champion at the Highlands Challenge. Adam Gamble kept his momentum rolling, building on his recent victory at the Tillinghast Championships at Shackamaxon with another strong showing. He carded a steady 7-over-par 78 to claim a 2-shot win and return to the top of the leaderboard.
Chasing closely behind, Roy Choi secured second place with a +9 (80), while Jeff Morgan rounded out the top three with a +11 (82).
In Division 3, Gary Greener broke through with his first win of the 2025 season, shooting a solid +9 (80) to take the top spot. Just two strokes behind, Tyler Pratt earned a strong second-place finish at +11 (82).
The race for third came down to the wire, with Jerry D’Ascoli and Richard Guillod locked in a tight battle. In the end, they couldn’t be separated—both finishing tied at +16 (87) to share third place honors.
In Division 4, Despite a small field of seven players, there was nothing easy about this one. Frank Molfetta rose to the challenge, claiming the top spot with a +21 (92). David Neder made his presence felt with a strong showing of his own, finishing second at +25 (96).
In Division 5, For the second event in a row, Metro NY players showed up in force—once again taking the top spot and representing their chapter with pride. Anthony Smith put together a strong front nine at +9 (45) and held steady down the stretch to finish at +16 (96), edging out Nicolas Vacca by a single stroke. Vacca posted consistent nines of +13/+13 for a total of +26 (97), earning a well-fought second place.
In Open Net: The Open Net competition turned into a thrilling head-to-head showdown between Division 4 players Frank Molfetta and La Fountain. In the end, it was Frank who held his ground, edging out the win with a net score of +4 (75). La was right on his heels, finishing just one shot back at +5 (76) to secure second place.
In Senior Net: What a battle it was for the coveted Senior Net trophy! With Adam Gamble (D2), Richard Guillod (D3), and Anthony Smith (D5) all tied at +4 (75), it came down to a scorecard playoff to determine the winner.
Gamble sealed the deal with a clutch performance on the back nine, shooting an impressive even-par (35). Guillod followed closely at +1 (36), while Smith finished at +6 (41). With the best back nine, Gamble takes home the Senior Net title.
