Tournament Champions
The Conflict at Kiawah delivered everything players expect from a stop at Ocean and Osprey. There were championship-level conditions, a demanding layout, and competitive fields across every division. The courses played firm and fast, many noted. Smart targets, discipline, and a steady mindset were the keys to getting through two rounds at Kiawah.
The atmosphere had that familiar APT energy: competitive but welcoming, players grinding yet still enjoying the full experience. Several divisions saw momentum swings late in the final round as the back nine tightened scoring and rewarded those willing to stay patient.
Division 1:
Division 1 came down to grit. The course made birdies tough to find, and every swing mattered. Matt Minder posted rounds of 80–78 to finish at 14 over par, beating out the field by a single stroke. With conditions getting tougher later in the day, Matt’s steadiness on the final stretch allowed him to close out his win.
Division 2:
Division 2 never looked settled, with players bunching and separating throughout the round. Christopher Denz handled the tough stretches the best, carding rounds of 75–88 to finish at 19 over par and take home the title. With AJ Lee close behind and pressure throughout the day, Denz delivered the kind of finish that’s needed at Kiawah.
Division 3:
Division 3 was a battle of patience and course management. Rick Knepp stayed committed to his plan and avoided the big numbers that the courses at Kiawah tempts players into. His 87–88 (31 over par) gave him a one-shot margin over the field, securing a hard-earned victory in one of the event’s tightest races.
Division 4:
Division 4 saw constant movement on the leaderboard, but Carl Elliston separated himself by controlling the tougher holes. Rounds of 87–95 gave him enough cushion to hold off those behind him. As conditions firmed up and the course demanded even more precision, Carl’s ability to avoid major mistakes proved to be the difference.
Division 5:
Division 5 is where we saw many players embrace the challenge and battled all weekend. Frank Romano played steady golf with rounds of 96–102 to earn the top spot. With three players tied for second, his composed finish on the toughest closing holes earned him the Division 5 trophy.
Mid Am Net:
Adding to his Division 1 victory, Matt Minder picked up a second win in the Mid-Am Net division. His net 78–74 placed him at 8 over par, right ahead of AJ Lee (+9). Minder’s ability to score in the wind and capitalize on his swings made this a well-earned second title of the weekend.
Senior Net:
In what proved to be the tightest battle of all contests, senior net was a fight to the finish. Brett Coddington (Murrells Inlet, SC), Christopher Denz (Alexandria, VA), and Michael Lingenfelter (Decatur, IL) all battled to a 3-way tie atop the leaderboard, all finishing at +7.
