Tournament Champions
On May 18th, the New Jersey Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Echo Lake Country Club for another outstanding day of competitive golf. The event featured a 10:00 AM shotgun start and welcomed a strong field of 72 players ncluding APT members representing Central Pennsylvania, Metro New York, Southern California, and Myrtle Beach.
Designed by legendary golf course architect Donald Ross, Echo Lake Country Club provided a true championship test with its rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkering, fast undulating greens, and a classic parkland layout that demands precision from tee to green. The historic course challenged players throughout the day while showcasing one of New Jersey’s premier private golf experiences.
The event also welcomed four new members to the Amateur Players Tour family, along with three guests who came out to experience what the tour is all about.
Competition was fierce across all divisions, with a total of $1,240 awarded in Division Skins and Super Skins. Overall, players competed for an impressive $3,451 prize pool distributed across Divisions 1–5, as well as the Mid-Am Net and Senior Net competition.
Division 1
In a competitive field of five players battling for the title, it was guest player Evan Stoker who held the lead at the turn after posting a +5 (40), giving him a one-shot advantage over Preston Kyriakoulis at +6 (41). The back nine, however, would ultimately decide the championship. Kyriakoulis closed with a solid +3 (39) to finish the day at +9 (80), but Stoker elevated his game when it mattered most. Turning in an impressive -1 (35) on the back nine, Stoker separated himself from the field and made a statement in his APT appearance, carding a final score of +4 (75).
Division 2
This division featured a competitive field of 15 players, with just five strokes separating first place from seventh, the division turned into a true battle of endurance and execution in the sweltering heat at Echo Lake. Players not only had to manage the demanding Donald Ross layout, but also the soaring temperatures that tested focus and stamina throughout the round.
At the turn, Kyle Edwards looked ready to make a statement after firing a strong +1 (36) on the front nine. Sitting three shots back were Kevin Park and David Rosenberg at +4 (39), while Farrukh Chaudry remained well within striking distance at +5 (40).
The back nine quickly turned into a rollercoaster. Edwards’ lead was suddenly in jeopardy after opening the inward nine with back-to-back double bogeys before adding another on No. 14. Meanwhile, Park and Rosenberg began applying pressure. Rosenberg came out steady with three consecutive pars to start his back nine, while Park battled his way through with a bogey-par-bogey stretch. Despite the adversity, Edwards refused to fold under pressure. Showing resilience down the stretch, he settled in and parred his final four holes to keep himself atop the leaderboard. In the end, both Park and Rosenberg finished one stroke shy of forcing a playoff, sharing second place with final scores of +9 (80). Edwards’ gritty finish proved just enough, as he captured the title — along with the larger payday — with a winning score of +8 (79).
Division 3
With a large field of 26 players. This division featured one of the tightest races of the day, with just four strokes separating first place from ninth place by the end of the round. Every shot mattered as players battled both the demanding conditions and a crowded leaderboard in pursuit of the title. Eric Booth finished in sole possession of fifth place with a final score of +16 (87), just three strokes off the lead. Close behind the eventual champion was a three-way tie for second place, as Raymond Van Ness, Michael Gaytan, and Andrew Michael each carded impressive rounds of +15 (86). Ultimately, it was Richard Guillod III who emerged victorious, edging out the field with an outstanding final score of +14 (85)to claim the title.
Division 4
With a strong field of 15 players competing for the title, the level of play was impressive throughout the day, as just three strokes separated the top three payout positions. Central Pennsylvania was well represented, with two players finishing inside the top three. Zach Plude secured third place after carding a final score of +15 (86), while Kevin Ungaretta, representing Myrtle Beach, finished runner-up with a strong round of +14 (85). Claiming the victory was Kyle Crain, who delivered the best competitive round of his Amateur Players Tour journey to date. Crain put together an outstanding performance, finishing at +12 (83) to earn the title and first-place honors.
Division 5
This division featured a competitive field of 11 players, and for much of the round, it was a two-man battle between David Davidson and Paul Taylor, with just two strokes separating the pair throughout the day. As the pressure mounted on the back nine, Taylor struggled to find momentum and was unable to card a par coming in. Meanwhile, Stephen Kraussteadily worked his way into contention by finding a few timely pars down the stretch to climb the leaderboard.
When the final putts dropped, Taylor and Kraus shared second place with matching final scores of +23 (94). Standing alone at the top was David Davidson, who captured his first Amateur Players Tour victory in impressive fashion with a fantastic final score of +16 (87).
