Tournament Champions
Another strong field and another competitive day of golf highlighted the latest stop on the Atlanta APT schedule, with players battling through difficult conditions and a full day of cart path only play that tested patience and consistency from start to finish.
Division 1 saw tour guest PhucThinh “Timothy” Nguyen make an immediate impact in his APT debut. Nguyen put together a complete round featuring two birdies and an eagle on his way to a winning score of 1 over par 73. The victory earned him not only the trophy, but also a complimentary APT membership for the next 365 days.
Division 2 continued to showcase one of the hottest players in the chapter as Chuck Hobgood followed up his recent first victory with another strong performance to secure back-to-back wins. Hobgood’s even par 72 was one of the best rounds of the day and helped separate him from another competitive Division 2 field.
Division 3 welcomed Frederick Velazquez from the Upstate South Carolina chapter, and the trip proved worthwhile as he captured his third victory of the season. Velazquez stayed steady throughout the round and finished at 12 over par to take home another trophy in what has already been an impressive 2026 campaign.
Division 4 delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the day. Monty Berry and Jan Gamlin both posted rounds of 90 to finish tied at the top of the leaderboard after regulation. However, after a long day navigating cart path only conditions, one player elected not to continue into the playoff. Berry was awarded the victory, trophy, and first-place payout following the conclusion of regulation play.
Division 5 provided another memorable finish, this time settled on the golf course. Tim Harbin and Robert Rosenbaum both finished regulation tied at 21 over par, sending the division into extra holes. Both players opened the playoff with bogeys on the first hole before Rosenbaum delivered the shot of the playoff on the second extra hole, rolling in an eight-foot birdie putt to claim the victory.
Rosenbaum’s win became even more impressive considering the circumstances surrounding it. After capturing the APT Players Championship at PGA National the previous day, Rosenbaum drove 13 hours overnight before arriving to compete in Atlanta, securing back-to-back victories on consecutive days.
Even with the playoff loss, Harbin still walked away with hardware after capturing the Mid-Am Net title, while Jan Gamlin continued his consistent season by earning the Senior Net victory.
Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who came out to compete. Atlanta continues to produce strong competition, exciting finishes, and another outstanding atmosphere each week on the APT schedule.
