Philly vs New York at Manufacturers’ Results

          Division 1 had some familiar faces battling it out to see who would be the King of Manny’s. Bobby Booth(36-40-76) posted a solid front nine of one over par and found himself in a tie for the lead with George Steinmetz. Both players started the back with a bogey but Booth stumbled on hole eleven with a double. Steinmetz, as is becoming his signature, put his foot on the gas and birded two of the next three holes. Booth cut the lead with a birdie on fifteen but it was too little, too late as Steinmetz(36-37-73) tied the bow on the victory making it back to back wins for him.

        Fresh off his D2 National Championship victory at Whistling Straits, AB Behura(37-37-74) picked up right where he left on Sunday(sort of) with a two stroke victory over a game Dave DiValentino(37-39-76). Behura started off with 4 bogeys on his first five holes as he worked off the road rust but birdied numbers 7,8, 12 and 15 to secure the win with an excellent 74. It was a Philly Metro sweep with Brad Garrett(39-38-77) and Rocky Dare(38-40-78) finishing out the order.

     Division 3 saw our first sighting of NY Metro players as Sal Ditta and Xavier Emanuele ended up in a three way tie with Philly Metro’s Kevin Martyn. All three players shot rounds of 81. The playoff started on hole # 1 with all three players making par and extending the match to hole #2. After their drives Martyn had an opening as both Ditta and Emanuele found the rough. However, Martyn was not able to capitalize and all three players tied, moving the match to the 460yd Par 4. For the day, Hole # 3 played the hardest at 1.4 strokes over par. Martyn led off with a fabulous drive on a hole that demands nothing less. Ditta and Emanuele found the rough and Martyn was able to close them out for the victory, his second win of 2021. Phil Yang and CJ Shank finished out the order tied for fourth.

       In Division 4, John Eastlack(36-45-81) continued his upward trend and overpowered the course while posting a round of 81 to secure the win. He posted early and waited in the clubhouse as NY Metro’s Chris Mingacci(39-43-82) and Philly Metro co-director Jim Bulicki(39-44-83) made runs at the lead. Bulicki was tied at nine under in the 17th fairway 87 yards from the hole when he laid the sod over it, walking off the hole with a double bogey. On the Par 5 eighteenth, Bulicki hit two great shots, leaving him on the side of the green with an Eagle chip to force a playoff. He made a solid run at it as the ball slid just by the hole. Lance Holloway finished in fourth to round out the money line.

        In Division 5, Steve MacDonald was the NY Metro stopper as he put the broom back in the closet to avoid a clean sweep with a dandy round of 89. Alan Ott(45-47-92) finished in second making a NY Metro clean sweep of D5.
