Playoffs Take Center Stage at Trophy Lake

The Seattle Chapter returned to action Sunday, August 16 at Trophy Lake Golf & Casting in Port Orchard, Washington. The day featured plenty of tight races, with three divisions requiring extra holes before a champion could be decided.

    Division 1 – Adam Fierro

Division 1 came down to Adam Fierro and Jeremy Kim, who both finished regulation at 8-over 80. That sent the pair back out for a playoff, where Fierro wasted no time putting the tournament away. On the first playoff hole, Fierro made birdie on the par-4 first while Kim made par, giving Fierro the Division 1 victory.

    Division 2 – Lee Caton

Another playoff was needed in Division 2 after Lee Caton and Scott Sacchi both posted 5-over 77. The two matched birdies on the first playoff hole, Lee stuffed his 2nd shot to an inch from the cup, allowing Sacchi to make a 20 footer before moving to the par-5 second. Caton made par while Sacchi carded bogey, giving Caton the win on the second extra hole.

Alex Bacevicius and Alex Lee finished just one shot outside the playoff, tying for third with rounds of 78 (+6).

    Division 3 – DK Kotwal

Division 3 provided the longest playoff of the day. DK Kotwal, Indranil Chakravarty and Nick Girard all finished regulation at 11-over 83, setting up a three-player battle for the title.

Kotwal and Chakravarty continued on after Girard was eliminated, matching one another through the first three playoff holes. The tournament was finally decided on the fourth extra hole, where Kotwal made par and Chakravarty made bogey. After four playoff holes, DK Kotwal walked away with the Division 3 win.

    Division 4 – Gene Franco

Gene Franco avoided the playoff drama with the most comfortable victory of the day. Franco posted an 82 (+10) to finish four shots clear of Bill Peabody, who took second with an 86 (+14). Cesar Giron rounded out the top three with an 89 (+17).

    Division 5 – Jeffery Green

Jeffery Green claimed Division 5 with a round of 90 (+18). Green finished well clear of Michael Maxted, who took second with a 108 (+36), to secure the division victory at Trophy Lake.

    Mid-Am Net – Alex Bacevicius

Alex Bacevicius put together the low net round of the day, finishing at 2-under 70 to capture the Mid-Am Net title. Andrew Black and Alex Lee tied for second at even-par 72, two shots behind Bacevicius.

    Senior Net – Scott Sacchi

After narrowly missing the Division 2 title in a playoff, Scott Sacchi still left Trophy Lake with a win. Sacchi fired a 3-under 69 to take the Senior Net title by one shot.

Jeffery Green, Gene Franco and Lee Caton each finished tied for second at 2-under 70.

Three playoffs and tight finishes across the leaderboard made Trophy Lake one of the more competitive stops on the Seattle schedule. Congratulations to Adam Fierro, Lee Caton, DK Kotwal, Gene Franco, Jeffery Green, Alex Bacevicius and Scott Sacchi on their victories.
