Summer Blitz at Cross Creek: Thrilling Finishes and Playoff Drama!

The regular season came to a dramatic close on August 15th at Cross Creek Golf Club in Temecula, CA. In what was the final tune-up before the upcoming Championship Finals at Strawberry Farms on August 29th, players were greeted with ideal Southern California summer weather—89 degrees, clear skies, and a slight breeze. With playoff positioning and regular-season hardware on the line, the leaderboard delivered high-stakes drama across every division.

Division 1: Tight Battle Down to the Wire

Division 1 featured a deep field with five players staying within two shots of the lead throughout the day. Despite a tough triple bogey on the final hole to finish with a 76, Satyajeet Singh held on to take the crown in surprise fashion. A trio of competitors tied for second just one shot back at 77, Josh Caldwell (Temecula, CA), Leonardo Giron (Chula Vista, CA), and Will McMahon (Santee, CA0 while Berkecem Renda (Fullerton, CA) rounded out the top group with a solid 78.

Division 2: Low Round of the Day

Mark Iriarte (Costa Mesa, CA) put on a ball-striking clinic to claim Division 2 honors and post the lowest round of the entire tournament. Iriarte carded a 74 to take first place convincingly. Andres Viramontes (Murrieta, CA) put together a strong round of his own, firing a 79 to finish in sole second place.  Jonathon Cavotta (Rancho Mission Viego, CA) was third with an 82.

    Division 3: Three-Way Playoff Stunner

The most dramatic moment of the afternoon came in Division 3, where Ryan Maramis (Corona, CA), Mario Uribe (Redlands, CA), and Scott Chalayan Cessna (Anaheim, CA) all finished regulation tied atop the leaderboard with 83s. The trio headed to the par-5 7th hole for a sudden-death playoff. After Uribe tapped in for bogey, Cessna sank a 15-foot birdie putt from off the green to snatch the victory. Maramis and Uribe tied for second place, while Blake Moorman and Tommy Suttera tied for third with matching 84s.

    Division 4: Armendariz Stays Hot

Division 4 saw the continued resurgence of Saul Armendariz (Granada Hills, CA), who put together an impressive round of 83 to capture first place. Victor Lopez (Rialto, CA) stayed steady throughout the afternoon to secure second place with a score of 86 and inch closer in the points race before the finals.

    Division 5: Points Leader Delivers

Season points leader Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA) capped off a dominant regular season in Division 5, shooting a clean 87 to claim another first-place trophy. David Cavanaugh and Tommy Weatherby battled it out behind him, ultimately sharing second place with rounds of 94.  All three golfers, along with Clark Decker (Seal Beach, CA), have locked up positions on the Southwest Cup team to represent SoCal in division 5! Congratulations.
