Kingwood Island Closes Houston APT Season in Style
The Houston Amateur Players Tour wrapped up its 2026 season at Kingwood Island, where a demanding course and several Player of the Year races set the stage for a memorable final stop. With season-long honors hanging in the balance, players delivered clutch birdies, steady finishes and championship-caliber performances across every division.
Division 1
The Division 1 Player of the Year race between Mark Young and Jarrod Brown came down to the season finale, and both contenders came out firing with birdies on the opening hole. Young added another birdie at #6 and made the turn at -1(35). He then created separation when it mattered most, rolling in back-to-back birdies on #14 and #15. Young matched his front-nine -1(35) on the back for a -2(70), earning the Kingwood Island victory and securing the 2026 Division 1 Player of the Year title.
Division 2
Gary Josephson posted a solid +3(39) on the front nine to take a two-shot lead over Darien Duhon, who turned in +5(41). Duhon settled in on the back with three straight pars and stayed composed through the closing stretch. His +11(83) was enough to take the Division 2 title at Kingwood Island, while also locking up the 2026 Division 2 Player of the Year race.
Division 3
Charles Ackerman came out hot in Division 3, carding a +4(40) on the front nine to build a five-shot advantage over Troy White and Sia Duvvuri, who each posted +9(45). Ackerman kept the pressure on with a +5(41) on the back, finishing at +9(81) to claim the victory. White answered with a birdie on the difficult #18 hole to secure second place at +13(85) and, more importantly, complete his season-long run to the Division 3 Player of the Year title.
Division 4
Jason Reavis grabbed the early lead with a +6(42), with George Jones close behind at +7(43). The back nine turned into a battle, as Andrew Antoine birdied #13 to pull even with Reavis. Antoine was not done. A second birdie at #17 vaulted him into the lead and kept his Player of the Year hopes alive. He finished with a +17(89), good for a one-shot win over Ray Medina at +18(90). Allen Thompson’s steady season-long play, meanwhile, earned him the 2026 Division 4 Player of the Year honor.
Division 5
Division 5 featured the tightest Player of the Year race of the week, with Tom Tribble holding a slim lead entering the final event. He played like a player ready to close the door. An early birdie on #5 helped Tribble post a +4(40) on the front, five shots clear of Muhammad Qadir at +9(45). Tribble continued his strong play down the stretch, including key pars on #16 and #17, and finished with a +13(85) to win the tournament and capture Division 5 Player of the Year. Qadir finished second at +22(94).
