As the 2026 season comes to a close, the Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina Amateur Players Tours came together Saturday for their local finals at Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer.
The Tom Jackson-designed course, located between Greenville and Spartanburg, provided the setting for the season-ending event, offering players a mix of challenging holes and risk-reward opportunities. With the local finals serving as the culmination of the 2026 schedule, golfers from across the Upstate and Western North Carolina competed for top honors and the chance to finish the season on a high note.
Following the tournament, the tours also recognized their 2026 Players of the Year. For the Upstate South Carolina Tour, Dan Constantino of Greer was named the Division 1 Player of the Year, while Gaffney’s Weston Brown earned Division 2 honors. John Beck of Forest City, North Carolina, was the Division 3 Player of the Year, with Ryan Riffle of Forest City taking Division 4 honors and Gaffney’s Rodney Ferrell earning Division 5 honors. Carlos Santana of Clayton, Georgia, was named Mid-Am Net Player of the Year, while Sonny Smith of Lyman was the Senior Net Player of the Year.
On the Western North Carolina Tour, Joe Brooks of Franklin was named the Division 1 Player of the Year, followed by Tyler Phillips of Hickory in Division 2. David Croston of Franklin earned Division 3 honors, while Robert Gibson of Fletcher was named the Division 4 Player of the Year and Michael McGill of Swannanoa earned Division 5 honors. Zach Hutchinson of Rosman was named Mid-Am Net Player of the Year, while Calvin Carter of Hendersonville was the Senior Net Player of the Year.
The Upstate and Western North Carolina Amatuer Players Tours travel their respective regions, offering golfers of all skill levels a chance to compete in one of five different divisions. The tours also feature Mid-Am and Senior net divisions, along with an optional cash skins game each tournament.
Here’s a breakdown of the results from Saturday’s tournament by division:
Division 1 – Five golfers finished within four shots of the eventual winner, as Dan Constantino and Joe Brooks went to a playoff after both competitors carded rounds of 71. In the end, it was Constantino who emerged victorious in the playoff.
Constantino opened up with a round of one-under par, 35, on the front nine with a birdie on the par-four second hole and eight pars. Constantino made two more birdies on the back nine, including one on the par-five closing hole to reach the playoff.
Brooks started his round in style with an eagle on the par-five opening hole to shoot two-under par on the front nine. Brooks made his lone birdie of the day on the par-three 12th hole.
Carlos Santana finished third with a round of 72, which included four birdies. Thomas Owens and David Thompson finished fourth and fifth with rounds of 74 and 75, respectively.
Division 2 – Davis Sires’ birdie on the par-five closing hole proved to be the difference as he secured the top honors in Division 2 with a round of 75. Sires birdied the first and last hole to win by one stroke over the field.
Travis Wartluft finished runner-up with a round of 76. Wartluft birdied the first hole of the day en route to a round of two-over par on the front nine. He played his first five holes of the back nine in one-under par, birding the par-four 14th hole.
AJ Lee and Weston Brown finished tied for third place with rounds of 78. Lee made two back nine birdies on the 12th and 17th holes to shoot three-over par on the back nine. Brown made consecutive birdies on the third and fourth holes to card a round of 37 on the front nine.
Chris Lombardozzi and Criag Snide tied for fifth place with rounds of 79 to round out the top five.
Division 3 – Ryan Riffle made two birdies on the front nine to shoot one-under par on the opening stretch, paving the way to a round of 78 and the title in Division 3. Riffle birdied both par threes on the front nine, along with the par-four 10th hole. He overcame a difficult stretch of holes on the back nine to make two straight pars on the 17th and 18th holes to win by one stroke.
Steve Easler finished second with a round of 79. Easler made two birdies on the round, and played his best golf on the front nine, carding a round of two-over par, 38.
Myron Samuels finished third with a round of 80, followed by Wayne Blyler and Bobby Worthman in a tie for fourth place with rounds of 81.
Division 4 – Extra golf was needed in Division 4 Saturday as four golfers found themselves tied for the top spot after rounds of 84. Once the dust settled in the playoff, it was Robert Gibson who emerged victorious. Gibson finished with seven pars on the round, including five on the front nine.
Joey Fyall II, Kenny Brown, and Narinder Graywal tied for second place with scores of 84. Fyall II settled into his round on the front nine, paring five of his final six holes on the opening stretch to shoot 41. Brown led the division with two birdies, taking advantage of the par-four ninth hole to shoot four-over par, 40, on the front nine. Graywal found his groove on the back nine, paring his final four holes to shoot 41 on the closing stretch.
Zach Hutchinson rounded out the top five with a score of 85 in fifth place.
Division 5 – After an up-and-down front nine, George Bright made six pars on the back nine to card a round of 89 and win Division 5 Saturday. Bright birdied the par-three third hole on the front nine, and settled into the round on back nine, making six pars to clear the field by a single stroke.
Michael Addison was close behind in second place with a round of 90. Addison made two birdies on the round, coming on the first and 10th holes. He also added two pars down the stretch as he and Bright battled to the final hole.
Michael McGill finished third with a round of 93, followed by Benji Raines in fourth place with a score of 94. Rodney Ferrell and Anna Cyphers-Smith tied for fifth place with rounds of 95.
Mid-Am (Net) – Nick Sparks and Bobby Worthman finished tied atop the leaderboard in the Mid-Am net division as both players finished with rounds of three-under par, 69. Sparks made nine birdies on the round, including five on the back nine as he shot two-under par, 34, on the inward nine.
Worthman birdied four of his first six holes to rocket to the top of the leaderboard. He added four more birdies on the back nine, including two birdies in his final three holes.
Carlos Santana, Justin Sartain, and Kenny Brown finished tied for third place with rounds of 70. Santana made six birdies on the round, including three on the back nine as he played his final nine holes bogey free. Sartain led the division with eight bridies and an eagle as Brown finished with four birdies and two net eagles.
Senior (Net) – Narinder Graywal birdied the last four holes of the round to post a score of six-under par 66 to win the Senior net division. Graywal made eight birdies on the day, including four-in-a-row to close the round as he shot four-under par, 32, on the back nine.
Wayne Blyler finished second with a round of four-under par, 68. Blyler made five birdies on the front nine, birding three of his first five holes. Thomas Owens, Joe Brooks, and Steve Daniels rounded out the top five in a tie for third place with rounds of three-under par, 69. Owens made four birdies in his final five holes as Brooks played the front nine in three-under par with an eagle and a birdie. Daniels made three birdies on the front nine to shoot three-under par on the opening stretch.
