Players arrived on the property of the spectacular Hurdzan and Fry course loaded for bear. The course was in perfect condition inviting players who controlled their ball into the fairway to score and plenty of players were up to the task
In Division 1, Bobby Booth and Kentucky Chapter’s Eric King both went out in a solid 38. They both opened with three pars on the back when Booth made it a fourth. King(38-35-73), the National Division 1 points leader, cracked open the jar with a birdie on the #13 and brought home the victory with one under par back nine
Rocky Dare and John Sheehan had a hard fought match going all day in Division 2. Dare(36-38-74) posted a sterling even par front nine to take a three shot lead. Sheehan would eventually cut it to two but Dare kept up his superb play to finish off the win.
Division 3 has a five player points race going for Player of the Year and the three coveted spots on the Metro Cup team. All the protagonists showed up but it was Jeff Carney dropping a cold-blooded 79 to shake the deck. Kevin Martyn was not to be outdone posting his own 79 and forcing a playoff which he won on the first hole of sudden death.
In a familiar sight, Larry Barber came down the stretch trying to claim another Division 4 title as he posted an index raising scorcher with an 84. Longtime rival Andy Repetto was right there every step of the way and forced the second playoff of the day which he finished off for the win over Barber.
Don Varga showed up with his “A” game at a course that was there for the taking. He jumped out to the lead and lapped the field with an 89 to capture his first APT victory.
Congratulations to all our winners! We look forward to seeing you at the local finals as we decide the Players of the Year and gear up for the Metro Cup.
