The third leg of the Rocky Mountain Winter Southern Swing was contested this past Saturday, February 19th, 2022. Two-man teams combined for three 9 hole rounds at the APT 27 at the Ledges of Saint George.
In the opening round consisting of 2-man best ball, three teams tied for the lead with Luke Barritt/Casey Bice, Bob Woitalla/Mike Membrilla, and Richard Hickmon/Rick Wiles pacing the field with a NET 31 (-5).
2-man scramble was the game for the second round with Josh Madden & Mike Eames breaking thirty and posting a 7-under 29. Bob Woitalla/Mike Membrilla carded a 30 and would be the leaders heading into the final round.
2-man aggregate was used for the third and final round with both players contributing to the team score. Matt Walden/Dave Sensiba, along with Dennis McGraw/Alan McGraw were tops in this format, both recording a NET 70 (-2). Tom Eveland/Shawn Larsen and Jeff Clifford/Peter Fong were one shot back at 71.
Added all together and McGraw/McGraw (134) used that final round 70 to erase a three-shot deficit and take home Team Champion honors, $500 in APT Visa Card winnings, and the blue/silver team timpani cup trophies! For Dennis McGraw, it was his second win on the Amateur Players Tour. Every win is special, but this one especially so for Dennis in being able to win with his brother, Alan McGraw (Seattle), who was playing in his first event on the APT.
Friends Bob Woitalla and Mike Membrilla (136) finished in the runner-up position, taking home $230 in APT Visa winnings and friends Shawn Larsen and Tom Eveland (137) rounded out the money line for $130 in the 3rd position.
In the “Double Pitch & Putt for GTech” tournament, newcomer Jesse Davis and his partner David North survived the four-round single elimination bracket and defeated Richard Hickmon and Rick Wiles in the finals to win the coveted APT logo’d GTech handwarmers.
Super Skins were won by Eames/Madden (best ball NET Eagle #5), Eames/Madden (scramble NET eagle #11), Woitalla/Membrilla (Aggregate NET Birdie + NET Par #1), Hornbuckle/Miller (Aggregate NET Eagle + NET Birdie #2), Conetah/Shaw (Aggregate NET Eagle + NET Birdie #3), Woitalla/Membrilla (Aggregate NET Birdie + NET Birdie #6), Conetah/Shaw (Aggregate NET Birdie + NET Birdie #8).
Closest to the Pin winners were Jeremy Conetah (2), Shawn Larsen (5), Bob Woitalla (10), and Matt Walden (12).
