The Senior Schedule for the Charlotte Chapter finally caught a break, and we were able to have our first event of the season. It was a small field, but that did not stop the players from competing on this day. We had a great prize pool for such a small field and paid the top 4 players in the Senior Net Contest.
We travelled to Norwood, NC to begin our schedule at Piney Point and the course conditions were some of the best of the season. Even with an overnight rain, the conditions were good, and the greens were in excellent shape.
Visiting from the Carolina Triad Tour, Christy McCauley had her best round ever on tour. Christy, a division 4 player, who normally shoots in the mid to high 80’s shot a career best 6 over par round of 78. She was getting 11 shots based on getting 80% of her course handicap which resulted in a score of -5. Sindo Mayor finished second at -1, closely followed by Steve Daniels with a score of Even. We had a 3 way tie for 4th with Russell McDonald, Kevin Lepage and Andy Parker splitting the 4th place prize pool.
Even with the career round that Christy shot, her new APT index is still within the Division 4 range, so all you Division 4 players better up your game. She is a force to be reckoned with.
I’d like to thank all those that travelled to Norwood, and I hope to see you back for our next event, which is the rescheduled Verdict Ridge event on Monday, April 18th.
