At Deer Ridge Golf Club we had 22 golfers come to play in our 12th event of the year. After a 1 hour heavy rain delay we saw the skies clear up and a golf course toughen up and show it’s extremely difficult greens to the players.
In Division 2 Ryan Auck was about as consistent as you can be. After a 6 par 3 bogey 39 on the front, Ryan then backed that up with an impressive 7 par 2 bogey 38 on the difficult back 9 to post 77 for a 3 shot victory. This was Ryan’s first victory of the season. Zach Gentile who battled Ryan for most of the day shot 41,39 for 80 and 2nd. Michael Bruesch went 43,38 for 81 and 3rd.
In Division 3 18 holes was not enough for 3 different players who found their way into a tie. Curtis Knapp, Luke Hurlburt (first D3 event) and Srikanth Vadlamudi all shot 84 and went back to the 1st hole for the playoff. After Luke and Srikanth struggled on the first playoff hole, Curtis Knapp made bogey for the victory. Curtis would go out in 43 and finish strong with 41 to shoot 84. Luke Hurlburt went out in 44 and turned it on for the back nine with 40 and 84. Srikanth Vadlamudi was the most consistent posting 42,42 for his 84.
In Division 4 Dan Campbell started quick out of the gate and stayed strong throughout the day with 43,47 and 90 for a 5 shot victory. Dan’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par 3 3rd which would prove to be the only birdie in the hole field. Newcomer Anthony Whitt would shoot 47,48 for 95 for 2nd.
In Division 5 for back-to-back tournaments 18 holes was not enough to find a winner. Both Dalton Devine and Terry Collins shot 96 for 18 holes and then went to a playoff. This playoff would also only last 1 hole as Terry Collins made par on the 1 handicap 1st hole for the victory. This was Terry’s 2nd victory of the season. Starting on the back Terry shot 51 on the back 9 but then regrouped on the front to shot 45 and claw back into a tie with Dalton. Dalton went out in 44 but then struggled on the back posting 52 for 96 and the tie. This was Dalton’s 2nd consecutive playoff appearance. Travis Shively would post 97 and finish 3rd 1 shot out of the playoff.
In the Senior Net optional side game Curtis Knapp posted a net 72 for a one-shot victory. Jerry Lanfear had a net 73 for 2nd. Michael Bruesch shot a net 75 for 3rd.
