The Phoenix APT and 28 competitors went head to head with the fantastic Talking Stick Resort & G.C this weekend in its first major of the year.
D1 winner Jason Vega in day one couldn't seem to find a fairway for most of the day but with great putting and short game, he managed to shoot a 75 giving him a four stroke lead going into day 2. Derrick Carver would come out in day 2 firing away trying to put some pressure on the leader with his amazing round of 69. Unfortunately Jason's 4 stroke lead was too much for Mr. Carver to close the gap as Jason shot a 1 over 72 to win by one! Great round Mr. Carver and CONGRATS Jason on your third APT victory.
D2
Although small in player size was not small to a great play by both Chad Henry and Chris Kiricoples, Mr. Kiricoples took a slight lead going into day 2 and continued to play solid enough golf to hold off the charging Chad Henry. The PHX APT wants to give a big thank you to Mr. Henry for stepping up to help us and another competitor in an unavoidable situation, Thanks Chad you’re a stand up guy and that just proves that The APT is building is more then just another amateur tour, we are all a big family!!
