NC Fall Series at Ballantyne CC Results

The 2022 Season is now underway!  73 Players from 8 different Chapters from across the country, descended upon Ballantyne CC for the first event of the 2022 season.  I would like to thank all of our returning members as well as the approximately 10 new members that came out and experienced what the APT is about.  The weather was cold and windy to start, but the conditions steadily improved throughout the day.  Ballantyne CC was a test for the players, especially on the greens where players continually noted that you had to be BELOW the hole to have a shot at making a putt. 

In Division 1 there were several players within 1 or 2 shots throughout today's action. Towards the end it became a three-man race between Dennis Reames (CLT TOUR), Daniel Jackson (CLT TOUR) and Ivan Jones (CHAPTER OWNER). As the players come down the stretch Ivan Jones separated himself from the field by turning in the only under par round of the day of 34-36(70) to win by four shots over Dennis Reames (74) and Daniel Jackson (74).

In Division 2 there were several lurking around the leaderboard all day. In the end there were 2 players that put a small gap between themselves and the field. Kyle Zeitz from (CENTRAL MISSOURI) scores 77(+5) to come up short to eventually winner Bill Phillips (CLT TOUR). Phillips shoots a smooth 76(+4) for victory by 1. Rounding out the Top 3 Ken Fishback shoots 79(+7).

In Division 3 we had 4 players within in 2 shots of the eventually winner. The top 3 played musical chairs most of the day. In the end Ballantyne CC member Nolan Elenz (CLT TOUR) used his course knowledge to prevail as the winner with a score of 80(+8). In 2nd place Tony Koechli stumbled at the end to shot an 81(+9). In 3rd place we had a tie with Alex Bechta and Kirk Tatge carding an 82(+10).  Kirk wins the scorecard playoff to capture 3rd while Alex takes home 4th.

In Division 4 we had our first playoff of the season!! Spencer Brooks (CAROLINA TRIAD) had control pretty much all day but Bobby Hutchison (CAROLINA TRIAD) kept his head down and was able to catch Brooks on the final hole to force the playoff. In the playoff Hutchison tees off first and puts drive in bunker and Brooks hits his drive left in the tree line. Hutchison hits his next shot in hazard and Brooks punches out and wedges on and makes par to become victorious!!

In Division 5 we had 4 players that eventually lingered around long enough to have a chance to win. In the end Jonathon Gladden (CLT TOUR) becomes a winner by 2 shots shooting a 93(+21) to edge Danny Sullivan (UPSTATE SC TOUR) 95(+23). The other players involved finished T3 were Terry Bollenbecker(CLT TOUR) and Marlo Wicker (UPSTATE SC TOUR) shooting a 97(+25).

Thanks to every player that came out to support the APT.  We will continue to elevate the player experience by paying the players in VISA GIFT CARDS based on the relative size of each division, continually monitoring Pace of Play to ensure that we do not have 5 plus hour rounds and listening to the player feedback and continually improving on what we do.
