Forest Oaks Country Club Tournament Results

The event at Forest Oaks CC brought 57 golfers from around the country to compete on this championship golf course over the course of 2 days. 

In Division 1 the players attacked easier pin location and allowed for scoring to be good across the board. The leader after day was Will Morgan(E), Donnie Hasen (+1) and Scott Tarcy (+3). The final round introduces some very interesting pin locations which alter a few players' scores in the event.  Hasen scored (+6) in the final round for a total (73,78=151). The winner of the event matched his score from day 1 Will Morgan (472,72=144). 

In Division 2 the scoring curve continued the same pattern. The 1st round leader with a score was Pedro Montoya(E). Montoya had plenty of competitors in his reach. Phil Vangeersdaelen(+2), Juan Sedano (+3) and Matt Fegley (+4). The final round started and we players made a front nine push from the middle of the pack. Mike Martin turns in (-2) to apply pressure on the Division 2 final group. The leaders switched back and forth on the final nine holes of the tournament. In the end Vangeersdaelen takes the event in open and Senior Double Dip with (74,76=150) to win by 1 over Martin (78,73=151) in 3rd place(2nd place Senior Double dip) was Pedro Montoya (72,80=152) and the final prize place was Matt Fegely (76,77=153).  

In Division 3 the largest gap was from day 1 leader William Buie. Buie shot a 77(+5) to take the lead by 3 shots over Christy McCauley. The 3rd place position was held by Warren Hackler with an 81(+9). The final presented challenges as the breeze picked up during the round. On the front nine seen Hackler cut into Buie lead. There were mistakes made by both players that kept the match tight coming down the stretch. Buie was ahead 1 stroke on the final hole of the event. Hackler in a safe position on the green looking to force playoff. Buie off the green trying to survive the round. Buie chips in to secure the victory for Open and Senior Double Dip championship. 

In Division 4 we had 3 familiar foes in the hunt for the Championship, Anthony Stepheson was your over not leader with an 83(+11) but only lead by 2 shots over Royal Mckenney and Major winner Daniel Henris. The second day Stephenson had to fight off McKenney early push to overtake the lead. The players were tied after 10 holes and a costly mistake in the latter parts of the round allowed Anthony to secure the Open and Senior Double Dip title. 

In Division 5 we had an out of body experience by our 1st round leader. Keith Thomas took some time off from the game and he said “I must had forgot all my bad habits because I am -1 thru 6 holes of tournament”. Thomas turned in at 37, his lowest nine-hole score ever!!! The good playing inspired others in his group to play well too. The back nine Mike Charles made a push to be only down 1 shot after day 1 Thomas finished at 85(+13) and Charles 85(+14). The final round started and the 2 players went back and forth all day long. The final result coming off 18 was that we needed a playoff to decide the winner. The sudden death playoff winner was Mr. Mike Charles.
