The tournament at Governors Club in Chapel Hill, NC had 46 players in attendance. The Governors Club is a course that very few tourney are held. We would like to thank the staff and management at the course for the opportunity to play one of NC premier courses.
In Division 1 we had a very busy leaderboard. After 18 holes of play there were 4 players tied for the lead at 76(+4). Will Morgan, Scott Tarcy, J Combs and Kyle Moffett. The players went back out on the course for a sudden death playoff. After hole 1 there were 3 players remaining. After hole 2 there were 2 players remaining and on the 3rd hole of sudden death Kyle Moffett emerged as your winner. J Combs secures 2nd place after a scorecard playoff. The win for Kyle is his first of the year and also gives him an eligibility to play in the Tournament of Champions in January 2022 in Orlando,FL!!!
In Division 2 the trick to victory was see who can break 80. There were 5 players around 80 coming down the stretch. The score 81 was good enough for T3. Chris emerged 3rd place after scorecard playoff winner. Eli Villanueva scores 80 (+8) to take solo second over group of players that shot +9. We had 1 player to break 80 in Division 2. Victor Rivera wins the event with a score of 78(+6) to claim his 1st victory of the year and he also is now eligible for Tournament of Champions in Florida next January.
In Division 3 newcomer Joseph Herring of Asheboro, NC comes out to play his first event with APT and he was able to capture 2nd place with a score of 87(+15). The winner for Division 3 out of Raleigh,NC Jose Nelson Sanchez wins by 3 shots with a score of 84(+12). The theme continues as this is Nelson first victory of the year and he now is eligible for Tournament of Champions. Congratulations!!!!
In Division 4 a common name was lurking around the leaderboard today (Christy McCauley). McCauley comes in with 87(+15) good enough for 2nd place. In 1st place with a score of 84(+12) Spencer Brooks edged his group partner out by 3 shots to also claim his 1st victory of the year. We now have 4 first time winners on the APT in 1 tournament.
In Division 5 the trend continues with another first time winner as Clastine Covington wins her division by 5 shots. Classy 100(+28) was good enough to claim a victory at Governors Club. Congratulations on the victory, hardware and punching your ticket to The Tournament of Champions in Orlando,FL January 2022!!!
