What a great weekend, with again another sell out event! 75 players tee'd it up Sunday at Shoal Creek GC for the Creek Cup! Despite wet conditions, and cartpath only, the course was in excellent condition given the near 10" of rain we'd had. And some good scores reflected the lift clean and place rule!
In D1, there were a lot of players better than 2 over after 14 holes, with Josh Semeniuk at 2 under par leading the way and Larry Langley at even par. Jacob Bruhn, Tyler Hartsock, and Garrett Routh were all within a couple strokes of Larry. Coming down the stretch, a couple tough holes and a couple bad putts, and the round got even tighter as Josh moved to -1 with Larry at even par. A missed short putt for Larry, and he dropped to 1 over. When it was all said and done, Josh finished at +1 and Larry at +2 to give Josh his first win of the season.
In D2, we had two players finish at 7 over, 3 at 8 over, and 3 at 9 over. It was a race to the finish, and took 4 playoff holes to decide a winner! Dan Price has steadily improved his game all year, narrowly missing a few wins in D3 before finally besting the field at Creekmoor and moving up to D2. In his first D2 event, Dan continued his steady play and got himself into a playoff with Chad Crawford from the St Louis tour, winning on the 4th playoff hole making this two in a row for Dan!
D3 was another tight race with the eventual winner, John HagermanFletcher, finishing at 6 over 77, with two behind him at 7 over and 2 more at 8 over. Dillon Rogers had a great opportunity, after a birdie on the difficult 17 he moved to 5 over and was in the lead by 1. But John was in the clubhouse, which put the pressure on Dillon. Dillon struggled on 18, carding a double bogey and losing by one shot. John HagermanFletcher is hoping for a move to D2 soon and is excited about his play as of late!
The St Louis crew showed up strong at this event, with Chad getting in a playoff in D2, and Adam Gulley taking home his first victory since having been promoted last year to D4! Cody Moran was on his heels, but couldn't make up the ground needed, finishing at 11 over to Adam's 9 over par 80. Lyndsey Baxter had a solid round, finishing in 3rd with a 14 over par 85 and representing the ladies!
In Division 5, Robert Rosenbaum has been so close in a couple events, but was finally able to put it all together this weekend! Robert took a comfortable win over Chad Eilert in 2nd place, who shot a 91 to Robert's 87. Robert got a bug for good golf while he was in Louisiana according to his son, Ross. Great job on the first W Robert!
We're off to Whistling Straits next weekend, then on July 11th we'll be back home in Excelsior Springs for another great event! Let's make it another sell out!
