What an amazing weekend at Lake Mozingo Golf Course! Yesterday we got a touch of rain on the very last hole, but overall it was a nice day. Today though... couldn't have been better. Incredible weather and the play reflected it as the majority of people improved over day 1 dramatically. What an amazing course. If you did not make it, don't worry, we will be making this an annual stop! Congratulations to the winners of the first annual Midwest Regional!
Larry Langley and JR Munson battled it out today, tied through the front 9. In the end, both players fired off a great score of 74 and Larry came out victorious by 2 strokes.
First timer and local college basketball coach Zack Schneider played 2 great days of golf. Knowing the course as well as he does was definitely an advantage to him. Zack took the win with a 6 stroke margin over 2nd place.
Cory Brandenburg continues his excellent run of form, and posted one of his best rounds yesterday with a 79. He followed it up today with another good score to take the win in D3 comfortably.
Brandon Hale played awesome golf yesterday coming in today with a solid lead. Some shaky play saw Brandon one stroke behind Robert Hill from Utah. Brandon scrambled and stuck with Robert, coming down to 18 one stroke behind. Robert made a mistake on the tee box, and ended up with a triple, leaving Brandon to play one solid hole to get his first APT win in D4.
In D5, we nearly had a 3 way playoff for first, but Robert Rosenbaum flubbed his chip then left his par putt just inches short, leaving Rocky Metcalfe and Mitchel Gustin from Iowa in a 2 way tie. Rocky came out on top to take the W. Great job to both of you!
