At NCR Country Club we had 97 golfers come out to play a challenging, grueling 36-hole test on a venue hosting the US Senior Women’s Open later this year. The golf courses played very tough but there were several good scores shot across the whole field.
In Division 1 Andrew Miller came out on fire with an impressive 1 under front nine on South and then later finished birdie, birdie on 17 and 18 to shoot a stellar 69 (2 under). Andrew would post several birdies and bogeys on the North Course, but his round was highlighted by an eagle on 12. Andrew went on to shoot 72 on North and Even for the 36-hole event to win by 2 shots. Matt Green was just as impressive posting a 72 on South which included 5 birdies and then following that up with a 1 over 71 on North with another 5 birdies to post a 2 over total for 36 and 2nd place. Tony Wise came in 3rd with a 71 on North and 6 over par total for the event. Tony also took 1st in Senior Division 1 with the +6 total.
In Division 2 Chris Harris was very steady on the South course posting 9 pars and 9 bogeys for an 80. He then had 2 birdies on North and was able to get in the house in 78 for a total of +17 winning by 1. Jody Barrett was also solid on South shooting an 81 and was around the lead most of the day. He then closed with a 78 on North coming in at + 18 for a tie for 2nd place. Joshua Brooks shot his low round on South with a 79 and then came in with 80 on North for + 18 and a tie for 2nd place.
In Senior Division 2 Jeff Van Pelt played very steady on South with 9 pars posting 81 and then came home strong shooting 74 on North highlighted by 4 birdies. Jeff would post +14 and win by 4 shots. Roger Gillum was low on South shooting 75 but then came in with 84 on North for +18 and 2nd place.
In Division 3 Juan Cunningham and Adam Kohler were battling down the stretch. Adam had a one-shot lead playing his last hole of the 36 before bogeying and going into a playoff. Juan hit an impressive approach shot to 6 feet and then won the playoff with par. Juan posted an 85 on the North Course and then shot an 84 on the South Course for a winning total of +28. Adam shot an 83 on the North and shot 86 on the South to also post +28 and 2nd place after the playoff. Clay Euton came in 3rd with an 84 on North and 86 on South for +29.
In Senior Division 3 Michael Bruesch had another outstanding tournament with 83 on North and 81 on South. Michael posted +23 for an impressive 4-shot win. Gordon Rahn stayed in the 70’s on North with 79 and then came home in 89 on South for +27 and 2nd place.
In Division 4 Chris Louth and Jeffrey Linville battled throughout the day and 36 holes was not enough for them either as they went into a playoff. Jeffrey Linville came out of the tough playoff the winner. Jeffrey Linville was consistent posting 84 on North and South for +27 and the win after the playoff. Chris came out strong with 82 on North and then held on posting an 86 on South for +27 and 2nd place after the playoff. Danny Bay continued his hot play with and 82 on North and an 88 on South to post +29 and 3rd place.
In Senior Division 4 Danny Bay would take 1st place by 7-shots with his +29 total. Rick Gordon posted and 88 on North and an 89 on South for +36 and 2nd place.
In Division 5 Abbott Stinson had an impressive day highlighted by an 87 on the North Course. Abbott then was able to keep it together on a tough South Course shooting a 91 for an +37 total and a 7-shot victory. Derek Stinefield kept up his steady play shooting 92 on the North and 93 on the South for +44 and 2nd place. Brandon Turner shot 96 on North and 95 on South for a +50 and 3rd place.
In Senior Division 5 Joe Hollis shot 99 on North and then came home strong shooting 94 on South for a +52 total and 1st place by 1 shot. Don Hamblett would go out in 95 on the North course and then shoot 99 on the South Course for a +53 total and 2nd place.
