Gorgeous weather and phenomenal scores were had at Glen Eagle GC for the 2021 APT at Glen Eagle in Syracuse, UT on Saturday, April 10th. Several players shot a personal best score amongst the Masters Saturday themed round at the links-style course just off the eastern shore of the Great Salt Lake.
Division 1 saw the 2020 Glen Eagle Club Champion Danny Meaders hold serve on his home course by firing a 68 with 6 birdies. Jason Riley (71) gave Meaders a run with four birdies of his own, but would come up just three shots short and earned runner-up honors.
In Division 2, Aaron Bascomb shoot his best competitive score ever with an even-par round of 72! Aaron had the shot of the day on the par-5, 18th green, an island green featuring an authentic Masters pin-flag blowing away from him. From 235 yards, Bascomb’s 3-iron would ride the wind and trickle to a stop just 30 inches from the pin. A smooth Eagle putt would find center cup and Aaron Bascomb took home a skin, super skin, and his second win on the Amateur Players Tour. Peter Fong (75) shot his best competitive round as well and finished in 2nd place. Jeff Clifford (77) took home 3rd place and Patrick Sherwood (78) rounded out the money line in 4th place.
Tyler Moore (72) kept the hot scores coming by winning Division 3 with EVEN par after shooting 35-37 including 4 birdies. Matias Tello (76) and Shawn Larsen (76) tied for 2nd place. Casey Bice (79) continued to perform well after his promotion, taking 4th place and rounding out the money line with his first competitive sub-80 score.
Mani Kottaichamy (72) has worked hard on his game over the past year, competing all over the USA on the Amateur Players Tour and was rewarded with his personal best EVEN PAR, walloping the Division 4 field on this day. Previously, Kottaichamy had never scored better than 79 on any leisure or competitive golf round in his lifetime. Great rounds by McKade Christensen (81), Daniel Jensen (81), and Troy Hill (81) resulted in a tie for 2nd place.
Ricky Roberts (86) won for the second time on the Amateur Players Tour in this young season, besting Aaron Johnson (87) by just a single shot. Craig Peacock (88) and Topher Miles (88) tied for 3rd place, two shots off the lead. Tour guest, Bob Woitalla took home the Division 5 NET Champion honors with his 61.
Just three Super Skins on the day; Andrew Pace (Birdie #10), Michael Kammeyer (Birdie #17), and Aaron Bascomb (EAGLE #18) split the $470 pot three ways. Overall closest to the pin winners were Shannon Lester (Hole 2 – 6’11”), Kevin Curtis (Hole 7 – 2’8”), Josh Henshaw (Hole 13 – 1’6”) and Aaron Bascomb (Hole 15 – 4’10”).
In the “A Tradition Unlike Any Other” contest, players earned raffle tickets throughout the day and then a drawing was held to determine the 5 players who competed in a putt-off to win an official 2021 Taylormade Masters Staff Bag; the same bag walking the course for all of the Taylormade brand ambassadors at this year’s Masters tournament.
The lucky 5 players who had their name drawn from the bucket were Parker Olsen, Michael Hollan, Daniel Jensen, Jose Valle, and Jeremy Conetah! To the practice green for the putt-off, here were the results:
Hole 1 – Hollan 13”, Valle 24.5”, Olsen 25”, Conetah 25.5”, Jensen 38” (Eliminated)
Hole 2 – Conetah 11”, Valle 31.5”, Hollan 42”, Olsen 65” (Eliminated)
Hole 3 – Conetah 10”, Hollan 10”, Valle 40” (Eliminated – Won Frank The Tiger Headcover)

Congratulations on a truly special day for a lot of our players. Outside of some pimento cheese sandwiches, the tournament had everything we needed to kick off our spring competitive calendar in the Rocky Mountains. Great scores! Great Fun! Prizes and Points! And another #ByThePlayersForThePLAYERS experience.
Next up is a two-man competition in which teams will compete in a full-field NET event featuring stroke play and match play, with the potential for 36 holes at the Thanksgiving Point Two-Man Marathon on Saturday, April 24th!
