After Hurricane Nelly (in honor of Nelly Korda bringing home gold for team USA) came through Jenkins, Kentucky and halted play for close to an hour, play resumed and champions were crowned on the old abandoned surface mine course.
Division 1- Points leader Jerod Ewing fought off the challenge presented by Dexter Moore to win 3 when it was all said and done. Dexter led early on, but Jerod took the lead just before the skies opened. After the delay, Jerod was able to pull away to capture another victory. Visiting tour director from SWVA Anthony Stout rounded out the top 3.
Division 2- Kentucky tour member James Heath must really enjoy West Virginia events, because he’s won all of them he’s played in! James was able to coast to a 6 shot victory over visiting SWVA player Jason Greenwell and visiting Knoxville player Blake Benson for his 2nd victory of the season in West Virginia.
Division 3- West Virginia points leader Wayne Mills captured another victory on the season, defeating visiting SWVA player Brad Carr by 6 shots. Wayne led for most of the day and was able to easily secure the win after the rain delay.
Division 4- The top 2 in points battled head to head as Justin Keaton and Marshall Kiser squared off as the only 2 players in D4 this week. Justin took a 7 shot lead into the rain delay and Marshall WD from the tournament with 4 holes to play, handing Justin another championship.
Division 5- The best battle all day took place between visiting Knoxville player Dale Dantzler and WV points leader Kevin Long. Both players stayed within striking distance all day, but a birdie on 16 propelled Dale to the win as he pulled away on the final 3 holes to defeat Kevin by 4. Jason Massie rounded out the top 3.
