There were 68 players that tied it up at the Stonehenge Golf Club in Fairfield Glade, TN on Sunday afternoon. Players were faced with cool, windy conditions from the start that provided a very challenging day.
Division 1-Tim Saunders made it 3 in row at the local level of the Smoky Mountain chapter. He trailed for most of the day, but after making a few late birdies, he found himself tied for the lead after 18 holes. He managed to earn the victory on the first playoff hole over Nashville's Dub Yarborough who led for most of the day. Both Saunders and Yarborough shot 4 over 76s.
Division 2- Chattanooga TN's Johnny Pierce earned his 2nd victory on the Amateur Players Tour just 8 days after his first. Pierce had to fight off Clarksville's Mike Wilkins who posted a 7 over 79, two hours before he finished. Pierce who held a one shot lead with one hole to play drove his ball in the water, but managed to save bogey and force a playoff. One playoff hole was all he needed as Pierce parred the par 4 first and Wilkins bogeyed. Nashville's Jeremy Craft finished one stroke back and finished 3rd. Cleveland TN's Jerry Burrel's and Atlanta's John Perron tied for 4th with 82s.
Divison 3- Bryan Packer earned his 1st victory of 2021 after shooting a 17 over, 89. He was matched by Nashville's James Newkirk and Jerry Drewry but it was Packer who hit the green in regulation and 2 putted for par and the victory.
Division 4- Ron Allen from the Music City tour earned the trophy after shooting a 16 over, 88. Allen, managed to keep it in front of him all day and avoided making any big numbers in route to his win. The Smoky Mountain chapter was well represented in the top 4. Jason Anderson finished 2 shots back and solo 2nd. Andrew Roskind finished 3rd after carding a 91. The hometown brothers, David and Daniel England tied for 4th.
Divsion 5- Smyrna TN's Thurman Boyd brought home the hardware after carding a 25 over, 97. Robbie Carlton and David McDow tied for 2nd with matching 99s. Susan Burrow came down from Kentucky and finished 4th.
