The Frog Golf Club Tournament Results

The Amateur Players Tour – Atlanta dodged the weather forecast as was able to compete their event at The Frog Golf Club in Villa Rica, GA on Saturday April 16, 2022. Special thanks to the staff of The Frog Golf Club for the near perfect greens for our members and guest to play on. 36 players took the course to get their piece of the $1925 total is prizes handed out. 

Division 1 was a tight battle all day long between three players. Derek Nicholson, Derek Foulke, and Jeremy Adams all entered the last hole tied for the lead. The par 5 18th hole is a risk reward finishing hole that lived up to the hype. Derek Nicholson took the risk, and the reward was a 15-foot eagle putt that he ended up two putting for birdie to card a 74 (+2). Derek Foulke narrowly missed a chip in to tie and Jeremy Adams missed a six-footer to give Derek Nicholson his third straight ATL win. Congrats to all three players. 

Division 2 was won by James Davis who carded a 78 (+6) to take the victory over Marc Dean by four shots. James was in control for most of the day, however three double bogeys on the back nine made things interesting between the two. James was awarded the trophy and a $210 Visa Gift Card for his victory.  

Division 3 also come down to the last hole as the lead was held by two players. Stephen Noland and Geoffrey Robbins stood on the 18th tee with a chance to win. Stephen stayed solid and made a par while Geoffrey made bogey to give the victory to Stephen. This is Stephens’ first victory on the APT Tour. Stephen was awarded the trophy and the $190 Visa Gift Card. Geoffrey took home second place and a $50 Visa Gift Card. 

There where fireworks in Division 4 and 18 holes was not enough to decide the champion. Greg Calvin and Andy Maestas both carded 91’s to make the playoff. Both players headed to the first tee to begin the playoff and Greg Calvin was victorious after one playoff hole. Greg was awarded the trophy and a $190 Visa Gift Card. Andy took home second as well as a $50 Visa Gift Card. 

Division 5 was won by new member Jonathan Hunt. Jonathan shot a 92 to out last the effort from Bill Ryan, who took second place. Johnathan was steady for most of the day and was awarded the trophy and a $210 Visa Gift Card. 

Next up on the Atlanta schedule is a joint event with the Birmingham Chapter at Cider Ridge in Oxford, AL and then right back at it the following week at Bentwater in Acworth, GA. Thank you to all the players and staff of the Atlanta Chapter for another wonderful time.
