The Golf Club at Creekmoor Tournament Results

Creekmoor was again, as always, in absolutely pristine condition.  It was hot, with a slight breeze, but the lack of rain lately made the rough easier than normal this year.  Easier than normal for Creekmoor though, is harder than most every other course in the Kansas City area.  But pure greens, firm and fast fairways, and tee boxes you could putt on make this course one of the best to play in the area. 

In Division 1, Larry Langley absolutely ran away with it.  He had one bogey, along with 6 birdies, and according to his group, should have at least 3-4 more.  Larry sets a record for the Kansas tour with a 5 under par, 67, taking the win over Kory Glasgow. 

Division 2 was more of a battle, with multiple players coming down the stretch within a couple strokes of each other.  Ian Weintraub, Dillon Rogers, Brian Taylor, Adam Augustine and Tricen Lewellen were all within 2 strokes with 3 holes left to play.  Ultimately, Ian would finish strong while the others would drop a couple strokes on the difficult 16th and 17th holes.  Ian finished at 7 over par, with Dillon and Brian finishing at 9 over par. 

Division 3 was won by the guy who, on the first tee box, says “Man I’ve been playing so bad lately, this course is going to beat me up” or something to that effect.  And then Courtney Barham goes out and wins by 4 strokes!  He’s been disappointed in his season so far, but he gets a win on a tough golf course, shooting his best round so far of an 8 over par 80, taking the win by 4 over Matthew Morgan and 5 over Todd Gurss, who both struggled on the last 3 holes. 

Last year, Chris Young was leading the D4 pack by 6 strokes going into the back 9, and ended up losing it by hitting his tee shot OB on 16.  This year, he was in the lead again going into hole 16.  And he pulled his tee shot left towards the houses, again.  But this time, he was in bounds by a couple feet, and he kept his lead and held on to win by 2 over Chris Stewart. 

Justin Bennett had a solid lead at the turn in D5, but stumbled down the back while Rocky Metcalfe put the charge on.  Rocky took the lead with a few holes left to play, and with a strong finish, put the trophy in his case shooting 91.
