The Nashville Amateur Players Tour visited the recently renovated Towhee Club in Spring Hill, TN. Players were treated to new bunkering, manicured fairways and greens that were fast and true. The course was in fantastic shape! The elements were, again for the third straight tournament, a factor. Fortunately, the rain was not heavy and extended lengths of time without rain and all players were able to finish their rounds.
In Division one, Dakota Woodcock and Justin Lee needed a playoff to decide a winner. Both players finished their round with +6 76. Dakota prevailed in the playoff to capture the win.
In Division two, our largest competition of the day, four players finished tied for the lead after 18 holes. Cary Anderson, John Bradshaw, Mark McFarland and Marcus Wirth all posted +6 76. The playoff started and finished on 1st hole with Cary and Mark leaving their approach shots short of the green and in the penalty area. Marcus hit his approach shot long and right, which left for a tough up-and-in and eventually made bogey. John was able to make par from the fringe behind the hole to capture his second victory in a row.
In Division 3, Tony Todd was a man on a mission. Tony made the turn in +2, posted an inward nine of +5 to post 77 and win by four strokes over Mike Penn who shot 81.
In Division 4, Scott Lansfield posted two birdies on his front nine in-route to a +7 77. Scott captures a four-stroke victory over Robert Scarpati who shot 81.
In Division 5, Andy Morris started his round with seven pars in his first 10 holes and was able to get out to a big lead. Rachel Guthrie made it interesting down-the-stretch and battled Andy to the very end. Andy finishes with +15 85 to win by one stroke over Rachel, who posted 86.
