At Denison Golf Club we had 33 golfers come to play a terrific Donald Ross designed course. The weather was perfect and led to some terrific scoring across all 5 divisions.
In Division 1 Dustin Fields and Aidan Allen had a terrific battle throughout the day. After shooting 38 on the front Dustin trailed Aidan by two at the turn but then birdied 10 and 12 to fire a back nine 35 for a 73 total and a 3rd straight victory. The back nine played much more difficult for everyone in the field which made Dustin’s 35 more impressive. Aidan Allen shot 81 (36,45) for 2nd.
In Division 2 Tyler Roberts stayed steady throughout the day and was one of the few players to turn in around on the back. After shooting 42 on the front Tyler would come in with 39 for a total of 81 and a 3 shot victory for his first of the year. Austin Rohrs in his first Columbus tournament of the year would shoot 85 for 2nd.
In Division 3 18 holes was not enough for 2 players who found their way into a tie. Rick Williamson and Adam Kohler battled all day going back and forth. After Rick shot an opening even par 35 on the front he had a two shot lead but then both players struggled throughout the start of the back nine. Adam would par the last 4 holes to shoot 78 (37,41) to apply pressure to Rick. Rick would then par 18 to force a playoff at 78 (35,43). On the first playoff hole Rick would hit his approach to 6 feet to apply pressure back to Adam. After a bogey by Adam, Rick would two putt for par and the playoff victory. Rick Knapp would shoot 81 for 3rd place.
In Division 4 there was another three-man battle from the same players as in the past tournament at Virtues. Jim Kohler, Chris Berry, and Johnny Sherman would all be within 1 shot at the turn. After a birdie on 11 Jim Kohler would par 6 of the last 7 holes on the back nine to come in with 39 and a total of 80 (41,39). Chris Berry would shoot 85 (40,45) and Johnny Sherman would also shoot 85 (41,44) for a tie for 2nd.
In Division 5 Brandon Yoder came out very solid and continued it all day. After an impressive 42 on the front Brandon would continue his steady play with a 43 on the back for an 85 and a 7 shot victory for his first of the year. Nadine LaRoche and Chuck Falter would both shoot 92 (46,46) for 2nd place.
In the Senior Net optional side game Rick Williamson would take the victory with the net 69. Rick Knapp took 2nd place with net 70 and Jim Kohler took 3rd with the net 71.
