Ninety players visited Springfield this past Saturday to compete for prizes totaling close to $4,900. A number of players had to play through bouts of rain either at the beginning of the round or at the end. We were fortunate enough to complete all or our rounds and crown champions in all five divisions as well as Senior Net.
In Division 1, Springfield-area resident, Wesley Locke from Greenbrier held a two-stroke lead at the turn and finished-the-job and took home the win and the trophy. Locke posts three-over 75 to best the five-over 77 of Nashville’s John Cacchio.
In Division 2, Micheal Lynn from Murfreesboro got on a heater, posted five birdies and finishes the day with an even par round of 72. Lynn takes the victory by three strokes over Crossville’s John Bradshaw (+3 75). Placing in 3rd place was Nashville’s John Bean with his five-over round of 77. Tom Foster from Murfreesboro takes home the 4th place prize with his score of 78.
In Division 3, Dickson’s Lowe Prescott scores the victory by one stroke with his round of eight-over 80. Bryan Harwell from Lewisburg led for most of the day, but could not finish off his round, finishing in 2nd place with his round of nine-over 81. Murfreesboro’s Colm Murphy and Nolensville’s Jack Hranec finish in a tie for 3rd with scores of ten-over 82.
In Division 4, Greg Hunter from Spring Hill garners his first victory on the Amateur Players Tour with a two-stroke win over Brentwood’s Will Houston. Hunter finishes the day with fourteen-over round of 86 and Houston finishes with sixteen-over 88. Jason Bucher from Paris claims the 3rd place prize with his round of 90.
In Division 5, Basil Hall from Primm Springs gets the three-stroke victory with his round of thirteen-over 85 to win by three strokes over Old Hickory’s Tyler Laney. Laney finished the day with a sixteen-over round of 88. Lynnville’s David McDow and Brentwood’s Rachel Guthrie both posted 91 to finish in a tie for 3rd place.
In Senior Net, Bryan Harwell shoots a net score of one-under 71 to claim the 1st place prize. In 2nd place was Dickson’s Lowe Prescott with a net score round of even par 72. Nashville Chapter Co-owner Chris Guthrie finishes in 3rd place with a net score of two-over 74.
