The STL Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour ventured westward on I-64 to the WingHaven Country Club to test the skills of 140 golfers. Mother Nature cooperated fully with the contest providing a sunny and pleasant day to enjoy a challenging and well-manicured course. Players in attendance enjoyed a fantastic course and top-notch pro shop staff making the WingHaven event another high point in the current season.
In Division 1 two identical rounds of 74 found Ryan Eckelkamp and Nate McCutcheon in the clubhouse tied for the lead. An on-course playoff provided a challenging contest where Nate McCutcheon earned his second first place finish in consecutive days. Chad Hull and Blake Heimburger came in behind the leaders with rounds of 76 and 77. The Senior had a shared winner’s circle as Geff Dunn and John Todd both carded rounds of 80, one in the morning session and the other in the afternoon.
The contest in Division 2 was very close with single stroke differences between top finishers. Marco Tallerico outlasted the field to earn a victory with a strong score of 77. He was followed by Nate Hampton and Dave Adams shooting 78 and 79 respectively. Zach Bryan and Scott Horton finished with scores of 80 earning them a tie for 4th place. In the Senior contest, Dave Adams round of 79 earned him first place followed by Scott Horton and Mark Roesler who finished one stroke back in a tie for second.
In Division 3, Chuck Shrank earned “double dip” victories with a round of 80. Three shots back at 83, Trenton Matthews, David Baxmeyer, and Dave Verhulst all finished in a tie for second place. Both Tony Clark and Tyler Dougherty finished one shot back at 84 for a tie for 5th place. In the Senior contest, David Baxmeyer and Dave Verhulst tied for second place honors with their rounds of 83.
Division 4 found Shannon Brooks shooting a great round of 84 earning him a 4-shot victory over second place finisher, Dolly Buenaventura. Kyle Meadows and Tim Davis finished at 89 in a tie for third place one stroke ahead of Dave Parker and William Heritage who tied for 5th. In the Senior contest, Larry Eaton captured first place honors with an outstanding round of 82 finishing 2 shots better than second place finisher, Shannon Brooks. Third place ended in a tie between Dolly Buenaventura and Sudhakar Injamuri who both shot 88.
In Division 5, Dauffus Jackson ran away from the field with a solid round of 89. He finished 7 shots ahead of Dony Brose and Stevie Frank who tied for second place with scores of 96. Four golfers (Chad Johnson, Esther Flora, Jim Seibert, and Brian Mulchek) tied for 4th place shooting scores of 97. The Senior contest found Tony Brose in the winners’ circle with his 96. Esther Flora, Jim Seibert and Brian Mulchek finished just one shot back at 97 to tie for second place.
