Tournament Champions
The Birmingham Chapter of the Amateur Players tour recently visited Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, AL. A full field of sixty players were treated to near perfect weather and wonderful course conditions.
In Division 1, Colby Odom, started hot and never looked back. Colby recorded a total of six birdies to only one bogey. With a score of 67 (-5), Colby cruised to a four-stroke victory. Avery Stansell posted a score of 71 (-1) to secure second place. Colby was awarded the trophy and the $290 Visa Gift Card for the victory.
In Division 2, Michael Cavazos trailed the leaders by two shots after a tough start to the round. After posting three birdies and one double bogey, Michael posted a score of 75 (+3). Colby Walker, playing in a few groups behind, was not able to make up the difference but held on to a second-place finish with a 77 (+5). Michael was awarded the trophy and the $210 Visa Gift Card for the victory.
In Division 3, Ryan Summerford was the big winner on the day. Ryan posted an 82 (+10) to win by three strokes over Greg Mason. Ryan was up and down for most of the round with three birdies and multiple double bogies and one triple bogey. Ryan was able to right the ship and play the final three holes in even par. Ryan was awarded the trophy and the $290 first place prize.
Division 4 was a tight battle between the two players at the top of the leaderboard. David Sides and Kenneth Robbins both posted scores of 40 (+4) on the front nine to separate themselves from the rest of the field. After both players had early back nine struggles, Kenneth was able to right the ship and coast to the victory. David Sides and Kyle Sheheane tied for second, four strokes back. Kenneth was awarded the trophy and the $270 prize pool.
Division 5 was a close battle with four different players holding the lead at one point during the round. After Adam Fowler closed the round with a birdie to apply the pressure to Scott Forster. Scott needing to make a bogey or better to win the event, dropped the putt on the final hole to take a one shot victory. Scott was awarded the trophy and the $190 prize.
