2025 Home Stretch Shootout at Red Tail Run Recap

    Decatur, IL | August 31, 2025

On an ideal late-summer day with variable clouds & wind, sunshine, and perfect scoring conditions; a sold-out field of 64 players teed it up at Red Tail Run Golf Club for the Home Stretch Shootout, the final regular-season stop before the Central Illinois Local Finals.

With Player of the Year points and Crossroads Cup qualification on the line, the pressure was high — and the competition delivered.

Division 1 – Anderson Keeps Rolling

Josh Anderson (Sidney, IL – CIL) continued his dominant 2025 season, firing a 3-under 69 to secure his fourth consecutive victory and eighth win of the year. A near-flawless card with 4 birdies and just one bogey proved enough to stay ahead of the field. Anderson has firmly established himself as the man to beat heading into the Local Finals.

        •    1st: Josh Anderson (–3 | 69)

        •    T-2: David Deschler (+3 | 75)

        •    T-2: John Mauck (+3 | 75)

Division 2 – Ty Jones Breaks Through

After battling nearly all season, Ty Jones (Springfield, IL – CIL) captured his first APT victory, carding a 1-over par 73 with 5 birdies. Jones held off consistent play from Jason Anglin (75) and a deep leaderboard to grab a much-deserved win.

        •    1st: Ty Jones (+1 | 73)

        •    2nd (T): Jason Anglin (+3 | 75)

        •    2nd (T): Jacob Jones (+3 | 75)

Division 3 – Moore Stands Tall

Zachary Moore (Lincoln, IL – CIL) earned his first career APT win, grinding out a 7-over 79. With an early D3 tee time, Moore posted an early score of players to shoot for. Despite nine bogeys on the day, Moore’s steady finish gave him the edge over Bradley Crawford and Anthony Zerillo, who both closed with 81s.

        •    1st: Zachary Moore (+7 | 79)

        •    T-2: Bradley Crawford (+10 | 82)

        •    T-2: Anthony Zerillo (+10 | 82)

    Division 4 – Park Prevails

Darrell Park (Springfield, IL – CIL) broke into the winner’s circle with a composed 79 (+7). His +1 (36) front nine put him in an early lead and held on during the back 9 to secure the win over Stevie Frank (83) and Bob Tipsword (84). This marks Park’s first APT title after several close calls.

        •    1st: Darrell Park (+7 | 79)

        •    2nd: Stevie Frank (+11 | 83)

        •    3rd: Bob Tipsword (+12 | 84)

Division 5 – Schmalbach Doubles Up

Chris Schmalbach (Williamsville, IL – CIL) went back-to-back in Division 5, firing an 83 (+11) to claim his second straight victory. He stayed ahead of steady play from Myron Schroeder (87), continuing his strong late-season surge.

        •    1st: Chris Schmalbach (+11 | 83)

        •    2nd: Myron Schroeder (+15 | 87)

Senior Net – Jordan Goes Low

Phil Jordan (East Peoria, IL – CIL) put together one of the best rounds of the day, posting a net 70 (-2) with 6 birdies on his card. His effort was enough to top James Minton and Daryl Wolff, who tied for runner-up.

        •    1st: Phil Jordan (–2 Net | 70 net)

        •    T-2: James Minton (–1 Net | 71 net)

        •    T-2: Daryl Wolff (–1 Net | 71 net)

Closest to the Pin – Agnew Delivers Late

The Closest to the Pin contest came down to the final group. Thomas Agnew (STL Chapter) stuck a dart to just 3 ft. 7 in. on the par-3, securing the $640 prize pool in dramatic fashion.

    Looking Ahead

With the regular season now complete, attention shifts to the Local Finals at Prairie Vista Golf Course (Sept. 6).

The top 3 player of the year in each division — plus one captain’s pick — will punch their ticket to represent Central Illinois in the Crossroads Cup this October at Turtle Run.

The stage is set, and the race for Player of the Year honors is tighter than ever.
