2025 Battle on the Border at Turtle Run Recap

On a hot July day with light and variable winds, 30 players from across the region teed it up at Turtle Run Golf Club for the 2025 Battle on the Border. With Player of the Year standings tightening and Crossroads Cup qualification on the line, every shot mattered across all divisions.
Division 1 – Keith Seizes Late Momentum
Hunter Keith (Forrest, IL – Guest) nearly lost it on a pivotal four-shot swing across holes 14 and 15 but holds steady to edge out John Courtney by one. Keith’s round of 73 (+1) was fueled by steady play on the front nine and timely execution down the stretch.

Division 2 – Trimpe Powers Through
Known for his length off the tee, RJ Trimpe (CIL) managed the course with precision. Despite two bogeys, his three birdies carried him to a stellar 71 (-1) and a well-earned victory. This is his 3rd win of the season

Division 3 – Maloney Holds Steady
Dan Maloney (Columbus, OH) remained consistent despite the challenge, finishing with a solid 83 (+11) to secure the Division 3 title without any late-round drama.

Division 4 – Davis Breaks Through
After two years competing on the APT, Cleat Davis (CIL) broke through for his first win. A crucial birdie on the par-3 17th sealed the deal, giving him a two-shot margin over Thomas Boyd. No playoff was needed.

Division 5 – Graham Finds His Groove
Christopher Graham (Chicago Chapter) played steady throughout, cruising to a Division 5 win with a 92 (+20) finish. He showed composure on both nines as others stumbled.

Senior Net – Schumacher’s Resilient Win
Keith Schumacher (CIL) delivered where it counted — in the net division. Firing his 2nd best score at gross 93. He posted a net 69 (-3) to take home the title, staying ahead of a tightly packed leaderboard.
