Division 1: Josh Anderson (Central IL) Seizes the Moment
What began as a tight race between three Central IL heavyweights ended with Josh Anderson rising above the field in Round 2. On Day 1 at The Rail, Anderson found himself in a back-and-forth battle with Tom Oshinski and John Courtney. Oshinski was solid early, carding +1 on the front. Both he and Courtney shot even par on the back, while Josh made a statement with an eagle on 15 — only to give it back with double bogeys on 16 and 17, trailing by 2 and 3 strokes respectively.
But Sunday at Piper Glen flipped the script. After Tom posted a devastating quintuple bogey on hole 5, and John stumbled to +5 through 6, Anderson grabbed control and never let go. Birdies on 14 and 17 helped neutralize bogeys on 10 and 11. His closing bogey on 18 was irrelevant — the title was already his. A strong 75 on Day 2 clinched it.
Final Scores:
Josh Anderson (Central IL) – +6 (150)
Tom Oshinski (Central IL) – +13 (157)
John Courtney (Central IL) – +17 (161)
Division 2: Mitch Myers (Central IL) Holds Off Late Charges
Mitch Myers came out firing at The Rail. He birdied two of his first six holes and carded a front-nine 35. Despite a rollercoaster back nine that included a double on 14 and birdie on 15, he finished at +1 (73), holding off RJ Trimpe (Central IL) and Michael Konuch (St. Louis) by 3. Cody Redman (Central IL) sat five shots back.
Day 2 at Piper Glen tested everyone. Mitch stumbled early with a double on 1 and shot 42 on the front. Meanwhile, RJ birdied 2 and 3 but couldn’t hold the momentum, and Michael stayed steady with a 40. Cody pounced, posting a 37 on the front and drawing even with the leaders.
But Mitch dug deep. While others faltered, he made only two bogeys on the back, avoiding the costly mistakes that doomed the rest. Cody’s triple on 10 stung, even with a brilliant near-ace birdie on 12. Michael’s triple on 18, and RJ’s doubles down the stretch sealed their fate.
Final Scores:
Mitch Myers (Central IL) – +9 (153)
Cody Redman (Central IL) – +11 (155)
RJ Trimpe (Central IL) – +14 (158)
4th Michael Konuch (St. Louis) – +15 (159)
Division 3: Blackburn (Indianapolis) Turns the Tide Late
It wasn’t a smooth start for John Blackburn (Indianapolis), who struggled with a double and triple on the front nine at The Rail. But his 37 on the back, highlighted by a birdie on 15, lifted him into the lead.
Jason Holden (Central IL) had a streak of 8 straight bogeys to open but rebounded with a stellar -1 stretch over four holes. Simay Souvannarath (St. Louis) led early after a 39 on the front, but three triple bogeys on the back derailed her round.
On Day 2, Rick Johnson (St. Louis) made a run after a double on 2, playing the next seven holes at +4 to creep into contention. Jason opened poorly with two doubles but found his groove late. John also started slowly but rebounded with three pars to close the front nine.
A clutch birdie on 10 from Blackburn gave him breathing room, and he stayed steady the rest of the way while others faltered — Jason tripled 13, Rick doubled 15, and Simay never recovered from a front-nine 49.
Final Scores:
John Blackburn (Indianapolis) – +18 (162)
Jason Holden (Central IL) – +23 (167)
Rick Johnson (St. Louis) – +26 (170)
Division 4: Draucker (St. Louis) Delivers Under Pressure
The Division 4 field saw a gritty battle from start to finish. Mike Scalera (St. Louis) fired a front-nine 41 at The Rail, leading Bob Tipsword (Central IL) by 1 and Dave Draucker (St. Louis) by 5.
In Round 2, things turned quickly. Mike posted a 52 on the front at Piper Glen, struggling to find his footing. Dave began to creep into the picture while Bob held a narrow lead heading into the final nine holes.
It all came down to 18. Dave needed a par to flip the script — and he delivered. Bob’s double bogey opened the door, and Dave calmly walked through it for a thrilling 1-shot victory.
Final Scores:
Dave Draucker (St. Louis) – +35 (179)
Bob Tipsword (Central IL) – +36 (180)
Mike Scalera (St. Louis) – +39 (183)
Division 5: Morrow (Chicago) Runs Away Late
The opening round at The Rail saw a tight contest between Scott Morrow (Chicago), Myron Schroeder (Central IL), and Jim Seibert (St. Louis). Scott held a 1-shot lead over Myron at the turn and 3 over Jim. But Jim’s 43 on the back brought him right back into the picture.
Day 2 brought a different story. Scott pulled away late, posting a stellar 43 on the back nine at Piper Glen while Myron and Jim couldn’t match the pace. Myron made a late push with pars on 17 and 18 to tie Jim for 2nd, but Morrow’s steady play down the stretch sealed a commanding 10-shot win.
Final Scores:
Scott Morrow (Chicago) – +41 (185)
Myron Schroeder (Central IL) – +51 (195)
Jim Seibert (St. Louis) – +51 (195)
Senior Net: Konuch Cruises in Control
Michael Konuch (St. Louis) delivered a wire-to-wire win in the Senior Net division. His calculated play and smart course management resulted in a net score of -4, five shots better than Rick Johnson (St. Louis), who also played strong golf but couldn’t overcome Michael’s consistency.
Final Net Scores:
Michael Konuch (St. Louis) – -4 (140 net)
Rick Johnson (St. Louis) – E (144 net)
