Amateur Players Tour of Florida – Southwest Tournament Recap 

Spring Run Golf Club – August 23, 2025 

On Saturday, august 23, the Florida – Southwest Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour visited Spring Run Golf Club and the plush conditions four our pen ultimate event of the 2025 season!  The day started off partly sunny, but mother nature had a few surprises in store for us!  After a 90-minute rain and lightning delay 2 divisions finished, one got close, and the others were shortened to just 12 holes!  Everyone made the best of the bad situation and got some time to socialize with one another during the delay!  Highlights of the day included: 

• Division 1: Gage Basiletti jumped to a 3-shot lead over Danny Magruder on the front nine.  Magruder turned things around on the back shooting even par, but it was not enough to catch Basiletti who won for the fourth time this season and leads D1 heading to the finals at IMG on September 6.   

• Division 2: D2 saw Daren Green and Nick Westbrook jump out to a 3-shot lead over Jeff Busby on the front nine.  After the delay, Green repeated his even par feat on the front with a similar one on the back to take a 5-shot victory over Westbrook.  Green widened his lead in D2 heading to the finals.   

• Division 3: This one saw Jimmy DiBernardo card a 6-over 42 on the front to take a one-shot lead over Mike Steele and 2 over Frank Hoffman.  On the back, DiBernardo was chased down by Rick Kaczmarczyk who carded a 40 on the back and took a 1-shot victory over DiBernardo.  This was Kaczmarczyk’s first win!     

• Division 4: In this shortened contest due to the rain and lightning, Johnny Moore jumped out to a 3-shot lead over Mike Bushee, firing a 6-over 42 on the front.  Moore was able to play the first 3 holes on the back well, and brought home his 5^th win of the season leading the division heading to the finals! 

• Division 5: This contest was also shortened to 12 holes with Quinton Allen leading the way on the front with a 44, just 2 ahead of Rick Gill.  After the delay, on the first three holes of the back, Gill would turn it on and jump ahead of Allen for the 1-shot win! , his third of the season  

• Senior Net: 13 out of the 18 eligible players participated in the Senior Net game, with Daren Green taking the lead at the turn with a -1 (35) and John Moore and Mike Bushee right behind at even-par.  Green would continue his hot start and took the win by 3over Moore with Mike Bushee and Mike Abbott tying for third place!   

A huge thank you goes out to Jeff Carter, Tanner Nipper, and the entire staff at Spring Run Golf Club for even having the course in such great shape for the tournament!  Everyone had good things to say about the course and the conditions.   

Our FINAL event of the 2025 season is at IMG Academy Golf Course in Bradenton, and it will be on Saturday, September 6.  This event will pay double per player in the division, so make sure to make it out and get your part of the bigger prize pool!  Sign up now for your spot to play!  Registration closes on Monday, September 1!
