The Open at High Meadow Ranch

Houston Amateur Players Tour paid a visit to High Meadow Ranch, a tour favorite in Magnolia, Texas. The weather was partly cloudy, with a slight breeze and by far the warmest tournament of the year. The course was in good shape and ready to take on all competitors.

D1: Mark Young started with 3 birdies in the first 6 holes to take a two-shot lead heading to the back nine 34(-2). New guest Colton Roberts with a 4-birdie effort trailed close behind at even par. Mark started hole ten with a 4th birdie and slowly pulled away shooting even par on the back and winning with a sub-par round of 70(-2). Jarod Marusic finished second with 77(+5).

D2: James Michalsky took the early lead with a birdie on hole #2 finishing the first nine with a 39(+3), two strokes ahead of Troy White, who shot 41(+5). James’s birdie on hole 10 paved the path to his 2nd win of the year shooting 78(+6).

D3: Division 3 was the second largest Division in the tournament. Ryan Burnaman, with a birdie on hole #4, shot 41(+5) on the front. Gary Josephson was one shot back with a 42(+6). There is a saying that all good things come in threes. Gary put together 7 pars out of the last 9 holes to take his 3rd win in a row shooting 80(+8).

D4: The largest group of the day had a battle across state lines. Georgia member Curtis Baugh and New York member Michael Repoli both shot 45(+9) with Carolina Ackerman trailing by one with 46(+10) at the turn. This contest was close to the end but a birdie on 18 by Carolina put her in a tie with Curtis Baugh both shooting 88(+16). A scorecard playoff gave Carolina the win.

D5: Tyler Warren came out on fire with seven straight pars to shoot a 42(+6) on the first 9 holes. Ray Gonzales was 4 shots back with a 46(+10). Anthony Vespa was making a move on holes 10 through 15, but Tyler’s lead was too much, and he ended the chase by finishing with a 93(+21) for his first win.

The Senior Net winner was   Gary Josephson with a score of even par (72). Carolina Ackerman took 2nd with 73(+1) and Curtis Baugh took 3rd with a 75(+3).

We would like to thank our sponsor, Golf Club Caddy, for providing tee gifts for all of our champions. Once again, congratulations to all the winnersl!! Next up is April Sound on May 31st.
