Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour – Local Finals Recap
Timbergate Golf Course – Edinburgh, IN
The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour wrapped up its 2025 season with the highly anticipated 2-day Local Finals at Timbergate Golf Course. With perfect weather, pure course conditions, and a competitive field, the stage was set for an unforgettable weekend of golf—and the action did not disappoint.
Division 1
Season-long standout Blake Claycomb (69-76) once again proved why he’s the player to beat in Indianapolis. Despite a strong push from Brock Anderson (76-73), Claycomb held steady to secure the title by three strokes. With yet another trophy added to his collection, Claycomb now turns his attention to the North American Championship, where he finished runner-up in 2024. He’ll look to bring a National Player of the Year title back to Indy.
Division 2
The Division 2 battle went down to the wire as John Burton (78-72) closed with a clutch finish—birdie, birdie, par—to edge Travis Sounders (75-76) by just one shot. The dramatic victory capped off what was an epic head-to-head matchup all weekend.
Division 3
The 2024 Division 3 Player of the Year, Brian Stanley (82-74), showcased his resilience with a career-best round on day two. His strong finish helped him sneak past Rex Meyer (76-86), who had led after round one, while Ross Richardson (89-74) surged with a stellar final round to grab third place.
Division 4
Day two brought fireworks in Division 4 as David Truex (91-81) elevated his game and edged out Todd Courtney (89-85) by two strokes. Don Hubbard (85-92) claimed third place after a solid opening round.
Division 5
Consistency paid off for Skylar Nichols (89-92), who captured the Division 5 crown. Just three shots back, William Jackson (97-87) and Kristie Sounders (95-89) shared runner-up honors in a tight finish.
Open Net
It was a double-dip weekend for John Burton, who paired his Division 2 win with an Open Net victory (75-69) at even par over two days. Brock Anderson (76-73) finished five strokes back in second.
Senior Net
Another double-dip performance came from Brian Stanley (75-67), whose two-day total of two under par earned him the Senior Net title. Rex Meyer (68-78) and David Truex (78-68) tied for second, just four shots back.
The Local Finals at Timbergate was a fitting conclusion to an exciting 2025 season on the Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour. With momentum building, all eyes now turn to the Fall Swing, beginning October 19th at Chariot Run.
