The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour made its latest stop at the picturesque but challenging Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana, where fast greens and punishing rough set the stage for a thrilling day of competition. The tournament saw fierce battles across all divisions, with multiple players rising to the occasion in dramatic fashion.
Division 1: Hoskins Jr. Edges Out the Field
In a wire-to-wire thriller, George Hoskins Jr. emerged victorious in Division 1 with a steady round of 74. It was a battle all the way to the 18th hole, as Hoskins Jr. held off a strong charge from Adam Taylor, who carded a 75, and Zach Ricketts, who finished just two strokes back with a 76.
Division 2: Burton Returns to Form
Randy Burton bounced back in style, capturing the Division 2 title with a solid 78. He held off a pair of competitors in Josh Brooks and Brandon Phillips, both posting 81s, to take home the hardware with a three-shot cushion.
Division 3: Heath’s Clutch Birdie Seals It
Division 3 came down to the wire, and it was James Heath who stepped up in the clutch. Heath birdied the 18th hole to shoot 86, edging out a tightly packed group including Richard Navratil, John Blackburn, Jimmy Schlink, and Zach Walker—each finishing one shot back at 87.
Division 4: Brown Rises Above
Dick Brown emerged as the Division 4 champion with a solid 87, fending off Adam Wojtkiewicz who finished two strokes behind with an 89. Brown’s consistency paid off on a course that challenged every aspect of the game.
Division 5: Sounders Prevails in Playoff Drama
Division 5 needed extra holes to crown a winner, as Kristie Sounders and Troy Babcock both finished at 101 in regulation. Sounders held her nerve and secured the victory on the first playoff hole, adding a dramatic finish to the day.
Open Net: Hoskins Jr. Doubles Up
George Hoskins Jr. made it a double-dip day by also taking home the Open Net title with a net 71 (-1), edging out Josh Brooks, who carded a solid 74.
Senior Net: Burton Adds to His Trophy Case
Randy Burton wasn’t finished either, capturing the Senior Net title with a blistering net 69 (-3). Jason Maddox put up a strong challenge with a net 71 (-1), but Burton’s form was too much to overcome.
With Otter Creek’s lightning-fast greens and thick rough testing every player’s skill and patience, the level of competition remained high throughout the day.
