Indianapolis APT Faces The Pfau Course in Rainy Battle of Skill and Grit
The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour made its latest stop at the renowned Pfau Course at Indiana University, where golfers were met with soggy terrain, unpredictable rain showers, and one of the state’s toughest layouts. Despite the wet conditions, the event turned into a thrilling test of patience, precision, and perseverance.
In Division 1, it was David Deschler who rose above the field with a stellar 74, handling the tough greens and wet fairways with remarkable poise. Brett Taylor (77) and Matthew Beeman (78) rounded out the podium, each grinding through the conditions to post impressive scores.
Division 2 saw an intense battle, with Josh Brooks (79) narrowly edging Josh DeJarnette (79) in a tiebreaker to claim the top spot. Trenton Matthews (80) and Tyler Whittaker (82) also turned in strong performances on the rain-soaked course.
In Division 3, it was Cody Ray (84) who held on for victory, just a single stroke better than John Goddard (85) and two ahead of Kaine Ransome (86), both of whom were hot on his heels throughout the round.
Craig Carr (88) took the title in Division 4, navigating the challenging layout to stay ahead of David Truex (91) and John Pfeifer (92), who finished second and third respectively.
Division 5 featured another tight finish, with Zach Jackson (92) narrowly defeating Joe O’Neal (93) and Tom Heiser (94) in a closely contested affair.
In the Open Net Division, Josh Brooks completed the rare Double Dip, firing a net 72 to edge out Sterling Cridge (73) and Tom Heiser (74).
The Senior Net Division ended in dramatic fashion, as Scott Middleton (73) triumphed in a three-way playoff over Rex Meyer and Randy Burton, who also carded 73s in regulation play.
Despite the wet conditions, The Pfau Course lived up to its reputation as a world-class venue. Its mix of demanding holes, slick greens, and stunning views offered players both a challenge and a thrill, turning a rainy day into a memorable chapter of the 2025 APT season.
