This past weekend, 96 players competed at the Bear Trace at Tims Ford in Winchester. Total prize pool just over $3,700 and side games totaling close to $2,200.  The course, which recently renovated, was a great test for the players and produced 3 on-course playoffs to determine division champions.

In Division 1, Murfreesboro’s Craig Young posted 4 birdies and no bogeys to shoot a round of 4-under 67 to win by two strokes over Burns’ Matt Mitchell, which also posted an under-par round of 2-under 69.

In Division 2, a two-hole playoff decided the winner in this competition. Murfreesboro’s Micheal Lynn and Fayetteville’s Jerry Ferguson ended their rounds tied with 5-over rounds of 76. Ferguson outlasted Lynn on the 2nd hole of the playoff to capture his 1st win on the APT. Columbia’s Will Norman takes the 3rd place position with a round of 8-over 79. Two players finished at 10-over 81 and a 4th place tie: Nashville’s Chris Bernosky and Hendersonville’s Sonny Beachy.

In Division 3, we had our largest competition of 32 players. Murfreesboro’s Marcel Sow edged out a number of players with his one-stroke victory. Sow posted a round of 9-over 80. Two players finished one stroke behind with rounds of +10 81: Lebanon’s Kevin Smith and Charlotte’s Madison Murphy. In 4th place at 11-over 82: Lewisburg’s Nick Wunderlin and Nashville’s Will Pearson. In 6th place at 12-over 83: Nashville’s Andrew Graham and Mt Juliet’s Jason Massey.

In Division 4, the competition ended in a playoff between Birmingham chapter’s Mike Penn and Dickson’s Todd Choate. Both finished their rounds at 13-over rounds of 84. Penn secured the win after the 1st playoff hole. Lafayette’s Cody Ray takes 3rd place with his round of 14-over 85. In 4th place tie were Franklin’s Alex Garcia and Birmingham chapter’s Mike Templeton. Both players scored 18-over 89.

In Division 5, two players competed in the playoff for 1st place. Charlotte’s Jimmy Murphy and Lewisburg’s Aaron Hobbs finished their rounds at 24-over 95. Murphy prevailed on the 1st playoff hole to snag the win.

In Open Net, Division 3’s Madison Murphy scored the one-stroke win with his net round of 2-under 69. 2nd and 3rd place were combined and split by Division 2’s Micheal Lynn and Division 3’s Kevin Smith.  Both players finished with net rounds of one-under 70.

Senior Net was decided with a scorecard playoff between Memphis chapter’s Ed McDugle and Nashville chapter co-owner Chris Guthrie. Both players posted net rounds of 1-over 72. McDugle wins the trophy with a one-over par 36 in the 1st tie breaker. Both players split the 1st and 2nd place prizes. 3 players split the 3rd place prize: Spring Hill’s Todd Osinski, Birmingham chapter’s Todd Gober and Brentwood’s James Newkirk.
