On Sunday, the St. Louis Chapter joined up with the Central Illinois chapter to head north to Decatur, IL for a true hidden gem – the Country Club of Decatur.  Originally founded in 1899, CCD went under renovation a few years ago to reshape bunkers, take down trees, and add great surrounds to the greens that has earned national recognition for its restoration.  Players faced a fun layout with perfect scoring conditions as members jockeyed for position in both the Autohaus BMW Player of the Year race and the Golf with Jay Delsing Series.

In Division 1, Nicholas Heller and Hunter Keith both played solid rounds of 1-over par 73 to force a sudden death playoff.  The 1st hole at CCD seems straight away, but a sloping fairway and overhanging trees make it way more difficult than expected, and par is usually a really good score.  Heller earned the par to win the sudden-death playoff and earn the victory.  Jason Hartrich played solid all day, firing a 2-over par 74 to finish in solo 3rd.

In Division 2, Dan Punkay from Champaign came to the 18th tee with a 1-shot lead, and capped off the victory with a solid birdie to earn a 2-shot win with a 3-over par round of 75.  Kellan Murray, Brian Vance, and Paul Wilson each finished in the runner-up honors with rounds of 77.  Mike Leonard rounded out the top-5 with a round of 78.  On the senior side, Brian Vance and Paul Wilson tied for the top spot with rounds of 77, with Mike Leonard finishing in 3rd place with 78.

In Division 3, Taylor Schoenbeck broke through the crowded field, firing a 77 to earn the victory by besting Dauffus Jackson by one shot.  Jackson, coming off his major victory at French Lick, finished in runner-up position at 78.  Jason Stone and Chris Turner finished in a tie for 3rd at 79.  Anthony Orza and Tim Leonberger finished in a tie for 5th with rounds of 80.  On the senior side, Stone and Turner went to a playoff with Stone making a par on the first playoff hole to secure the victory.  Tim Leonberger finished in 3rd place with a round of 80 just one shot back.

In Division 4, Chatham’s Mike Prince played well, shooting a 9-over 81 to earn a one-shot victory and a promotion to Division 3.  Jerry Anderson and James Smith finished in a tie for 2nd with rounds of 82, while Michael Wulf finished in solo 4th place with a round of 83.  Mike Scalera rounded out the top-5 with a round of 84.  On the senior side, Jerry Anderson earned the victory with a round of 82 on the second playoff hole with a par over James Smith.

In Division 5, Chris Schmulbach earned the victory with a great round of 86, that featured clutch birdies on holes 16 and 17 to pull away from Tim Harbin, who finished in solo 2nd with a 90.  Esther Flora finished in solo 3rd position with a 92, while Wayman Declue, Rusty Lingenfelter, and Keith Schumacher finished in a tie for 4th with rounds of 95.  On the senior side, Esther Flora earned a 3-shot victory with her 92 to best Rusty Lingenfelter and Keith Schumacher.

In the Net Division, James Smith earned the win with a 6-under par net 66, besting Tim Harbin by 2-shots with his net 68.  Third place went to Kellan Murray and Greg Mitchell, who finished at 69, while Paul Wilson rounded out the top 5 at 2-under 70.
