Tournament Champions
The St. Louis Chapter kicked off the 2026 Fall Wrap-Around Season at Far Oaks Golf Club on Sunday as a sold-out field of 84 players showed up to get the first crack at the coveted Autohaus BMW Player of the Year points. Conditions became tough as rain settled in over the St. Louis metro area, as each of the players would have to grind to deal with the elements in some very competitive divisions.
In Division 1, Mike Flynn made the most of his return to the APT, carding a 1-under 71 to earn a 4-shot victory over Dan Busk and Marco Tallerico, who each finished in 3-over par 75’s to finish in a tie for 2nd place. John Todd finished in 4th place with a 6-over 78.
In Division 2, 18 holes would not be enough to decide a champion as Daniel Black and Mike Lingenfelter battled down the stretch, both finishing at 1-over par 73 on a difficult day. The first playoff hole was the gettable par-5 1st at Far Oaks, where after a good drive, Lingenfelter rolled a 3-wood up to about 12 feet, setting up an eagle putt. The putt nearly dropped, but a birdie would be good enough to give Lingenfelter the victory. Josh DeJarnette and Taylor Young finished in a tie for 3rd with rounds of 78, while Billy Davis and Eric Schaetty finished in a tie for 5th at 79.
In Division 3, Dustin Hunter broke through for his first win by carding an impressive 78 that started off with a bang – an eagle on the first hole that would set the tone for the rest of the day. Tony Quartuccio finished with runner-up honors after carding a 79, while Ralph Allen started with an 83 that earned him a solo 3rd place finish. Rounding out the top-5 was Kevin Zawodniak, Gerald Harsley, Scott Sahli, Mike Paubel, and Rick Johnson all carding rounds of 84 to tie for 4th place.
Division 4 would see a return to the winners circle for Mike Scalera after carding a +13 (85) that was fueled by a hot start that saw him 1-under par through the first 7 holes! Stevie Frank finished in the runner up position with an 89 to start the 2026 campaign, while Toby Chrzanowski, Dave Draucker, Clark Wilbanks, and Kyle Deutsch finished in a tie for 3rd at +19 (91) in difficult scoring conditions.
In Division 5, Chris Heavin earned his first victory on the APT with a 94 to enjoy a 3-shot victory over Brian Cope, who finished in solo 2nd place with a 97. Tracy Behrle and Chris Brockmeyer finished in 3rd place with 98, while Mark Smith and Dane Kearns finished in 5th place with rounds of 99 to kick off the 2026 campaign.
New to St. Louis this year, is a mid-am net and senior net competition. Players under 50 can “double-dip” to play a mid-am net competition, while players over 50 “double-dip” into a senior net competition. Both competitions earn points towards an Autohaus BMW Player of the Year award, as well as earn exemptions into majors and the North American Championship. Points travel in these competitions wherever you play on the APT, and validated players get 90% of their APT index. Non-validated players get 90% of the 12-month low of their USGA Handicap or APT index, whichever is lower while players without a GHIN get 90% of their Division low.
In the Mid-Am Net Division, Dustin Hunter rode his career low APT round to a Mid-Am Net victory, shooting a 4-under par net 68 to edge Daniel Black, who gets better each and every week. Black fired a 2-under 70 to finish 2 shots off the pace. Third place went to Marco Tallerico and Tony Quartuccio after firing even par rounds of 72.
In the new Senior Net Division, Dan Busk and Mike Lingenfelter finished tied for the tournament at net 1-under par 71 each, and both players took home $272.50 in the senior net competition for a tie for 1st. 3rd place went to Mike Scalera, who finished at 1-over par net 73, while Eric Willingham, Ralph Allen, Rick Johnson finished tied for 4th at +2. Mike Paubel and Russell English finished in a tie for 7th at 3-over par net 75 to round out the money.
