On Monday, the St. Louis chapter headed east of the river for the Fathers Day Skip Day at Gateway National Golf Links.  With views of downtown, Gateway provides a unique and challenging layout for the 115 players that took on the challenge of the Monday event.  Autohuas BMW was on hand with another sleek sports car, as members continue to vye for key points in the Autohaus BMW St. Louis Local Player of the Year races.  The golf course was in fantastic shape, dodging the morning rain that hit parts of the St. Louis metro and members were rewarded with almost perfect scoring conditions.  This was the 2nd event in the Golf with Jay Delsing series – an in-season tournament series paying out additional prize pool to the winner of each division, with members best 5 finishes counting of Country Club and Monday event.

In Division 1, 18 holes would not be enough to crown a champion as Dylan Davidson and Ben Barth each finished the day with solid 3-over par 74 rounds with Barth making birdie on the risk/reward par-5 18th hole to force a playoff.  On the first hole of the playoff, Davidson would return to the winners circle with a par on the first playoff hole.  3rd place went to Randy Krusleski, John Todd and Colin Hall who finished just one shot off of the pace.  John Todd took home the senior division with his 4-over 75.

In Division 2, Mike Lingenfelter had a day, shooting a career best 1-over par 72 to earn a one-shot victory over Dillon Keeven who finished just 1-shot back with a 73.  Lee McCarthy continued his solid play with a 3-over par round of 74 to finish in solo 3rd.  Rounding out the top-5 was John Wooden, Zach Bryan, Todd Feuerhaken and Eric Schaetty who each shot 75 to finish in a tie for 4th place.  Mike Lingenfelter used his career low to earn the double-dip title and secure the senior division as well, besting Todd Feuerhaken and John Wooden by 3 strokes.

In Division 3, with the last group standing in 18 fairway, it looked certain that we would be headed for a 4-way playoff in the days most competitive division with 6 players tied at 9-over!  In fact, the top 14 were within 3 shots of the lead.  The pressure was squarely on Peter Allen as he decided to take the aggressive route on the par-5 18th hole, going for the green in two with birdie to win and the elusive chance to break 80 for the first time on the APT on the line.  Allen hit a fantastic shot, and then finished it off in style rolling in an eagle putt to secure his 78 and first win in over 2 years!  Tony Arcese, Larry Flinn, Dan Millheim, Simay Souvannarath, and Schooner Fitzgerald finished in a 5-way tie for 2nd just two shots back with rounds of 80.  Jeff Rainford finished in 7th place with his round of 81.  On the senior side, Peter Allen completed the double-dip with his 78, besting Simay Souvannarath and Schooner Fitzgerald by 2 strokes.

In Division 4, the excitement would continue as 18 holes would not be enough to decide a champion.  Dave Draucker and Eric Willingham each tied for the lead with 12-over par rounds of 83.  On the first playoff hole, Draucker made 5 which was good enough for a return to the winners circle.  Tony Proffitt finished in solo 3rd just one shot off the pace with another solid round of 84, while Tim Faulkner and Baxton Owen rounded out the top-5 with rounds of 86.  On the senior side, Draucker earned the double-dip win, besting Willingham in a playoff while Proffitt finished one shot off the pace in 3rd place.

In Division 5, Bill McMahan returned to the winners circle with a solid round of 19-over 90.  Robert Rosenbaum (Iowa) finished in the runner-up position with a 91, while Kevin Brown, Brian Jennison and Esther Flora finished in a tie for 3rd place with rounds of 94.  On the senior side, Bill McMahan completed the double-dip victory by defeating Robert Rosenbaum by 1 stroke.

In the Net Division, scoring conditions were low and players took advantage of it.  Peter Allen rode his career low of 78 to an 8-under net performance and a one-shot victory over Mike Lingenfelter.  Lingenfelter shot a 7-under net in his best APT round thus far to earn second place.  Dan Millheim had another career low, shooting 6-under net to finish solo 3rd.  4th place went to Dave Draucker, who used a 4-under net performance to earn the title in Division 4.  The top-5 was rounded out by Zach Bryan and Todd Feuerhaken who finished at 3-under net to round out the money.

From here, the St. Louis Chapter hosts APT Homecoming at Annbriar Golf Course, which will bring in a field of 160 players from all around the country for a 36-hole major.  The next local event will be on Monday, June 30th at Persimmon Woods Golf Club.  The 144-player field will compete in an AM/PM Double Tee for valuable Autohaus BMW St. Louis Player of the Year points and Golf with Jay Delsing Series points.
