Tournament Champions
On Monday, the St. Louis chapter of the APT visited the newly renovated Persimmon Woods Golf Club in Weldon Spring, MO. Persimmon Woods welcomed the sold-out 144 player field, featuring off its newly redesigned greens and a golf course that was in immaculate shape. The event came in as the 4th event in the Golf with Jay Delsing Monday series, a new in-season competition in 2025 that awards a points champion for select private clubs and Monday events. Autohaus BMW was on-hand with a beautiful St. Louis red BMW X3, and players faced near-perfect scoring conditions for the select Monday event.
In Division 1, Chad Crawford navigated the difficult Persimmon Woods layout well, shooting a 6-over 77 to earn a one-shot victory over Michael Clark and Dillon Keeven. The 77 was a second-straight runner-up finish for Clark, and Keeven’s first event in Division 1. In 4th place was Jason Hartrich and Jamold Little with rounds of 79. On the senior side, Michael Clark returned to the Winners Circle with a round of 78 to best Jamold Little who earned 2nd place honors with his 79.
In Division 2, Brandon Smiley had an impressive performance, carding a 2-over par 73 to earn a 4-shot victory over Mike Lingenfelter and Eric Fogleman. Both players finished 4 shots off the pace with rounds of 77. Daniel Black followed up his first victory in his APT career Saturday with a 4th place finish on Monday, tying Mike Mervis with tourns of 78. 6th place honors went to Chris Scoles, Bill Stuart, John Chastain and Matt Nemnich with rounds of 79. On the senior side, Mike Lingenfelter returned to the winners circle with his 6-over par 77, edging Mike Mervis with a 7-over par 78.
In Division 3, Dauffus Jackson had a day, returning to the Autohaus BMW Winners Circle with a 7-over par 78 to earn a one-shot victory over Christian Benavides. Benavides finished with a 79 to earn runner-up honors. Chuck Schranck and Chris Turner tied for 3rd place with rounds of 80, while Anthony Zerillo rounded out the top-5 with his round of 82. Simay Souvannarath finished in 6th place with an 83, while Tony Arcese, Paul Wilson, and Joseph Miller rounded out the money with rounds of 84. On the senior side, Chuck Schranck and Chris Turner tied for the top spot with matching rounds of 80, with Simay Souvannarath finishing in 3rd place with an 83.
In Division 4, Justin Wilson shot an impressive 10-over 81 to earn a 2-shot victory over Christopher Jones and Michael Adkins, who finished with rounds of 83. Wilson’s consistent good play and improvement has earned him a promotion to Division 3 – congratulations Justin! 4th place went to Jim Nichols, who’s 84 continues to show improvement each week. Rounding out the top-5 was Jesse Baumann and Mike Scalera, who each shot rounds of 85. On the senior side, Jim Nichols returned to the Autohaus BMW Winners Circle with his 84, with Mike Scalera taking home runner-up honors with his 85.
In Division 5, Dane Kearns took his trip to Victory Lane with an impressive 17-over par round on the difficult Persimmon Woods layout. His 88 was good enough for a 2-shot victory over Bill McMahan, who has been knocking on the door in recent weeks. Jason Powell and Chris Brockmeyer rounded out the top-3 with rounds of 93. On the senior side, Bill McMahan earned the victory with his round of 90 with Chris Brockmeyer taking the runner-up honors with 93.
In the Open Net contest, Christian Benavides took the top spot with 4-over par 67, while Brandon Smiley shot a 2-under 69. Rounding out the top-5 was Chuck Schranck, Mike Lingenfelter, and Dane Kearns with 1-under par rounds of 70 in a tie for 3rd. 6th place went to Bill Stuart with a round of 71, while Steve Minder, Adam Haegele, Daniel Black and Chad Crawford shot 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for 7th.
From here, the St. Louis Chapter takes July 4th weekend off before two events at The Falls Golf Club on Sunday, July 13th and WingHaven Country Club on Monday, July 14th. Limited spots remain for both events with tee times starting at The Falls (10am Straight Tee) and WingHaven (AM/PM Double Tee).
