Clear blue skies greeted the morning with cool temperatures in the low 40’s. By the time the shotgun start began, the build up of clouds had replaced the sunny skies and an eastern wind had begun. The excitement of the field had peaked with anticipation of playing the beautiful course, the Tom Weiskopf designed Club at Flying Horse. Pikes Peak, which provides a beautiful backdrop for the Club’s South Course, had disappeared with the low clouds. The weather changed quickly and by the time the field completed their second hole, the rain/hail/snow pellets and strong wind had taken over. This weather lasted 4-5 holes and was quite cold making playing conditions quite difficult. We were minutes and maybe seconds away from having a delay as the frozen pellets were slowly collecting on the greens. After the storm, the field played with off and on periods of sun and clouds.

NOTABLES: D1 player Victor Minovich led the field with 5 birdies and 1 eagle! The Eagle streak for a Denver tournament continued as Minovich scored an eagle 2 on the Par 4, 6th hole.

Birdies were plentiful despite the weather conditions. Josh Anderson, visiting from Central Illinois APT Chapter, carded 4 birdies as Colin Armistead and Brandon Foster followed making 3 birdies at Flying Horse. Arik Miranda, Hendrik Orlowski, Alex Tieman and Ray Lopez all had 2 birdies each. ~12 other players also enjoyed scoring 1 birdie for the day.

DIVISION 1: Division 1 had a strong field for the tournament with several previous winners of APT events. Victor Minovich won 1st place with a score of 71 (-1) to win by 4 strokes and took home the trophy and prize money. Central Illinois APT member Josh Anderson won 2nd place money and points with a score of 75 (+3) with Colin Armistead placing third with 77 (+5).

DIVISION 2: Division 2 also had a strong field competing for the trophy and 1st Place money. Dylan Utsler played in his second APT event as a guest and was the winner. Utsler finished with a score of 81 (+9), won the trophy and prize money that paid for his 2026 APT Membership! Gary Wayne and Arik Miranda finished the day 1 stroke behind to tie for 2nd place prize money by shooting 82 (+10).

DIVISION 3: Ethan Bond and Alex Tieman tied for 1st place in this division forcing a sudden death playoff. The weather had completely turned around as the wind had died down, the clouds, sleet and snow pellets had been replaced with the typical Colorado sunny blue skies. Bond and Tieman both scored 88 to get them in the playoff. The tie breaker began on hole #18 to afford the gallery to watch from the overhanging balcony by the green.  Both players scored 5 on the first playoff hole to force the playoff to continue to hole #1. Tieman won the hole with a clinching 5-foot putt as Bond narrowly missed a long putt to continue the playoff.

DIVISION 4: Brandon Foster was not affected by the wintry weather conditions and won the division trophy and 1st place prize money. Bundled up with his beanie on to keep warm, Foster scorched the D4 field to shoot a sizzling hot score of 83 (+11), and as noted above, included 3 birdies! Steve Pickens and Chapter Owner Kirk Hulbert tied for second place with scores of 93 (+21).

DIVISION 5: Payton Luebe had an incredibly good round to win D5 with a score of 87 (+15). Luebe was steady and consistent during the day to win 1st place prize money and the trophy. Raymond Lopez finished in 2nd place with a score of 95 (+23). Mike Elder finished on stroke back of Lopez to finish in 3rd place with a score of 96 (+24).

MID-AM NET: The field was highly competitive, but Payton Luebe ran away from the field with his strong round to win 1st place trophy and prize money in the Net competition. Payton lapped the competition with a Net 69 (-3). Second place prize money was shared by 4 people who tied with a Net score 76 (+4). The players that tied for second were Colin Armistead, Alex Tieman, Jami VonKaenel, and Drew Lopez.

SENIOR NET: D4 player Jeff Fulkerson was the winner of Senior Net at Flying Horse with a score of 76 (+4). Fulkerson won the trophy and 1st place prize money. Greg Otto won 2nd place prize money with a Net score of 79 (+7). Eric Drucker missed being in the money by 1 stroke with a final Net score of 80 (+8).

FOLDS OF HONOR 50/50 RAFFLE: Matthew Sanchez was the winner of the raffle and shared the $140 pot with the APT National Charity (and Sponsor) Folds of Honor.
